September 28, 200519 yr Author now it would be nicer if Willingham could play LF, but this is awesome enough
September 28, 200519 yr Um, why are people so excited to see minor leaguers? That lineup is terrible. Call me crazy, but I think they'd have a better chance at winning with Delgado, Encarnacion and Lo Duca.

Boy, that'd be something new.

September 28, 200519 yr So the logic is... play these young guys since the guys they're paying millions and millions of dollars to are "probably" going to lose? You honestly would rather have Chris Aguila than Carlos Delgado in the lineup? I don't know about that one. I sincerely and respectfully disagree. Play the guys that you're paying the big bucks to, and the guys the fans paid to go watch.

We're 80-76 and playing awful. Give the kids a look. And if anyone buys a ticket to see Juan Encarnacion, I feel for them.
September 28, 200519 yr very nice. im glad they finally got to get a start. jack is not putting a lineup out there to win he is doing it to give the kids time kudos jack
September 28, 200519 yr Which of these kids that are starting are going to be playing regularly next year besides Hermida?

No, the logic is that guys like Willingham, Hermida, Aguila and Wilson represent inexpensive options to the guys we're paying the big-bucks (or would have to pay big-bucks to in the offseason). You don't think Encarnacion (who apparantly wants to stay) has a lot riding on whether or not Hermida, and I guess to a lesser extent Pierre, plays well against major league pitching? Same with Alex rooting "against" Andino. The team has to see if the kids are ready, and to be honest, losing may not be the worst thing, it's a better draft pick.

And if anyone buys a ticket to see Juan Encarnacion, I feel for them. Give the "kids" a look at AAA, not in a regular season game. It's one of 162 just like any other. If they're gonna play next year, let them play next year. What does that have to do with this year? Or are they conceding the final five games? They are happy with 80-82? I'm not.

I honestly think this lineup has a better chance of winning right now. They're certainly going to play harder.

So next year's personnel decisions will be based on five starts in the final five games of the year against teams whose fates are decided??? Come on.
