Posted September 29, 200519 yr Dropping a hint that maybe his managing days are not about to go, Jack McKeon said Wednesday: "I'd like to get this club back to where it should be next year." Is that a signal that McKeon is leaning toward staying as manager? McKeon wouldn't say specifically. "I want to finish up on a good note," McKeon said. Should this be McKeon's last season managing the Marlins, which many within the clubhouse believe, he is expected to remain with the organization as a consultant. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla
September 29, 200519 yr Depending on who'd be his replacement, this may not be the worst thing. We'll see.

Jack has got to go!! If he doesn't, the same problems will happen next year.
September 29, 200519 yr Maybe he is just talking about how he would like to see his team get back to where it should be from his new position in FO? I love Jack as well, but he just doesnt fit in the chemistry of the team right now.
September 29, 200519 yr Absolutley not i dont want this guy back as manager I WANT OZZIE >_> (Jack McKeon - 40 years) * Whining = Ozzie Guillen

September 29, 200519 yr Bring Jack back !!! I find it amazing how people can blame him for what has happened to this team. He is a Major League manager, not a babysitter. These guys are paid millions of dollars to play a kid's game. The manager's job is not to keep everyone happy and make sure he doesn't offend anyone. His job is to put the best team on the field that he can day in and day out. Jack did that. I want to see him back. How quickly people forget 2003... He knew how to manage back then.. All of a sudden, he's forgotten???

All of a sudden, he's forgotten??? You know, it's all fine and well to say that and on some level I don't disagree with you. But he's lost this team, the players don't like him and they don't respect him. So, what are we going to do? Fire the team? You can't bring him back just to prove some point about how the players are wrong. The goal in this sport is still to win games.

All of a sudden, he's forgotten??? Look, I appreciate all McKeon has done, and I'll admit that McKeon'll probably have a few job offers next year for some struggling teams if he doesn't come back to the Marlins, but the club-house is so much in tatters that it seems that the only way to fix the team is to bring in new faces, and since you can't fire the players, McKeon's going to take the fall. The guys who are being mentioned as replacements are underwhelming, and it seems everyones' favorites (Leyland, Pinella, Guillen) all have a history of either getting good teams to underachieve, or for being overly negative, so it's really McKeon's style but in a different package. I've it said before, I'd let Beinfest take the fall first, but that isn't likely, and heads are going to roll after this season, but Jack does deserve better...he's technically leaving on his own terms, but he's being forced out.

September 29, 200519 yr I think this team is in need of a new voice, but McKeon wants to be able to do whatever he can through the FO in getting this team back to '03 caliber.
September 29, 200519 yr Absolutley not i dont want this guy back as manager I WANT OZZIE >_> What's so great about Ozzie? He may be a good people person and a fan favorite, but he's a sh*tty manager.
September 29, 200519 yr 1 manager vs 25 players Quick number crunch for me, which part of the equation is easier to replace? A manager who has lost his players is just a lame duck. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't get through you're just a prop on the bench. We need someone new whether everyone likes it or not.
September 29, 200519 yr Thing is, we really only know about the big problem with A.J.. That little thing Cabrera is a non-issue. People are making that bigger that it really is. He was late to the park and paid the price... end of story.. Now, unless I've missed a whole lot, what other clubhouse tension is there beyond Burnett? Now that he's gone, we may have some more optimism in the clubhouse. From what Beckett, Todd Jones, Lenny Harris, and other said, they seemed to think A.J was wrong.
