December 3, 200520 yr I'm guessing Wilson will get the first shot. Since we're not even getting a cheap veteran in a trade, I doubt we'd go and sign one as a FA. Unless it's Minor-League free agent cheap.
December 3, 200520 yr Seriously....if we were talking about who's going to play second base on our AAA or AA team I'd have more interest. Who cares about the Marlins. They're gutted, filleted, and you can stick a fork in them. It will be no fun being a fan next year of a team with below average pitching, defense, and offense...and that has the prospect of leaving town in a few years so that anyone we do see who looks good you can't get excited about anyway. This is different than the firesale of 98. Unless some miracle deal comes along to build a stadium somewhere in South Florida this team is history down here. Anyone we see will be in Portland in 2009, so what difference does it make? Who cares? I'm sad for the fans, especially the kids.
December 3, 200520 yr Reading this thread title, I have a problem ... I thought Who was on first, now he's our 2nd baseman???
December 3, 200520 yr I say we start trading our minor league team for some promising little league prospects. Just think about our future! We can give up Hermida for about 15 kids. Our farm would be swamped!
December 3, 200520 yr Josh Wilson, Robert Andino and Alfredo Amezaga are the internal candidates to replace Luis Castillo at second base for the Marlins next season. No love for Joe Dillon? Fortunately, GM Admin Beinfest did indicate that some inexpensive free agents could be considered. Mark Bellhorn and D'Angelo Jimenez qualify, and the Athletics would be happy to part with Keith Ginter. Also, Junior Spivey could be non-tendered by the Nationals. December 3, 200520 yr none of which excite me. oooh can we have Keith Ginter?!! please???!!! bleah. what Iowa said.

December 3, 200520 yr http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-m...ov=ap&type=lgns Gonzalez and Castillo had been together since 1998, longer than any other active double-play combination. Florida may swing a deal to acquire a replacement for Castillo, Beinfest said. "I would not rule out looking at a reasonable free agent or a trade to fill the second base spot," he said. They might be looking at acquiring another inexpensive 2B. I wouldn't give up hope just yet. That's such a typical comment from the idiot of Beinfest. "I won't rule out..." Yeah, you won't rule out razing this team to the ground... you MF%^&%(*%*&(%^%%(*%((%% BEINFEST :ban SAMPSON :chair LORIA :hanged
December 3, 200520 yr Have the D-Backs throw Craig Counsell in to the trade for LoDuca.... We could have him play there until Psomas or whatever is ready.
December 3, 200520 yr Author I seriously hope they aren't considering playing Amezaga at 2B. The guy doesn't even deserve to ride the pine. I'll take Ginter, Bellhorn, Spivey, or any of those other guys.

Bring back Edgar Renteria while you're at it. I'm SURE the Red Sox would be more glad to get rid of him than we were eager to get rid of Lowell's contract. They would love to have that money free to offer to Damon right now. Too bad we're not in the AL. We could use a DH at second whenever Willis or Vargas are pitching. Ugh.
