Who Plays Second Base Now??

Featured Replies

With Castillo gone, and very little depth in the minor-league system as far as middle infielders, who is going to play 2B for us now? Am I going to have to do it?

I have no faith in Andino or Wilson. I was hoping if we were going to keep just one of our veterans it would be Castillo, but I guess not.

They are starting over from scratch and it sickens me. We should have kept Castillo and we will keep hopefully Lo Duca. How go could to prospects be to almost completly ruin any chances ov having some good DP's and fielder's choice outs?! :mad

That's just the thing, I don't either. We're better off getting Ramirez to play SS, and resign Easley as our full-time 2Bman, with either Andino or Wilson on the bench to fill in for him occasionally.

Joe Dillon?

I'm holding out faith we trade JP to the Cubs for Ronny Cedeno and have him play 2B.

Cedeno

Hanley

Cabs

Jacobs

Hermida

LoDuca

Willy

Aguila

Not too shabby... I just hope to god we don't do that NY trade

i dont think easley wants to sign around here, unless the contract is for 10million. id think he would wanna go make 800,000 somewhere and have the chance to win.

its gotta be some new minor leaguer.

I'm hearing D'Angelo Jiminez might be the guy...

:whistle

Great!!!! Awesome. Can't wait to see him in a Marlins uni! :thumbup

I'm currently in negotiations with the Marlins right now on a contract that should pay me $50K to play 2B for this season. The hold up is that Mr. Dave "The 'Thanks Dad' Paperboy" Sampson is not budging over $25K because my demands are above his "market corrections." Here's a market correction...rid us of your salary by resigning today Mr. Mini-me!!!

And please let the door hit your a$$ on the way out.

by the way to answer ur question about who will play 2nd base...get used to the name Alfredo Amezaga, he is a local kid who played at Miami Senior High and then St. Petersburg Community College.

He has played for Anaheim, Pittsburgh and Colorado and he signed a minimum contract about 2 weeks ago.

He is a career .207 hitter (45-217) in 127 games, 7 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 20 RBI, 32 Runs, 7-11 SB, .265 OBP

That is your future second baseman for the Florida Marlins

Lineup in my eyes right now

Ramirez - SS

Amezaga - 2B

Hermida - RF

Cabrera - 3B

Jacobs - 1B

Willingham - LF

Aguila - CF

Treanor - C

Pitcher

Rotation

Willis, Johnson, Vargas, Petit, Olsen

LOL. I think that I remember him. He was pretty good in the lower levels (high school, college, minors), but never highly rated. If he starts for us, I think that every high school coach here in Dade County should all combine our efforts and send Joe Girardi our best players to complete the roster.

I dont know who starts the year at 2b but if the organization moves Grant Psomas to 2b he'll be our starting 2b by mid season.

Who cares.. I pretty much know 2 people from this team anyway. It will take me awhile to learn the other 23 names :boo-woo

Gonzalez and Castillo had been together since 1998, longer than any other active double-play combination. Florida may swing a deal to acquire a replacement for Castillo, Beinfest said.

"I would not rule out looking at a reasonable free agent or a trade to fill the second base spot," he said.

They might be looking at acquiring another inexpensive 2B. I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Who... Luis Rivas? D'Angelo Jimenez? Miguel Cairo? Bellhorn? Menechino?

Puke.. I'd rather play a young guy.

Well we have a great 2nd base prospect coming up thru the farm system...oh wait, no we don't...all we've done is draft f***ing pitchers every year

Grant Psomas?

Scouts projected him to be a future 2B because of his defensive proficiencies.

But could he change positions and make the leap to the majors all in the one off-season?
