MLB Rule 5 Draft

Featured Replies

Just so everyone knows about why Kevin Howard wasn't taken, he was traded to the Yankees by Cincinnati, who received Tony Womack is return.

Howard wasnt taken in the draft because everyone passed on him

yup.

has nothing to do with that trade. if we had wanted him we would have taken him. as i said, obviously we rated uggla higher than howard.

I consider myself the Dan Uggla of this forum...Great move i think we will soon forget about Castillo

I will never forget Castillo...one of our best and most classy players of all time...he signed for less to stay hear and the FO treated him like sh*t... nothing but love for luie and memories...the hit streak and the world series

Ludwick could be a nice fit in right next year. But I don't know how far away he is....? Or is he ready now...Or maybe I'll go check stats

I am a Bucky Backer... that dude is a freakin beast.

He wouldn't start, but he'd be a great bat off the bench and he's popular.

Those Bucky Backers could come down for a couple games and double our attendance. :lol

Bucky would be pimp.

Bucky/Jacobs at 1b gives us a tons of power.

Uggla buys ugly houses.

wooooooooo

:lol

Nothing Uggla About It

PHOENIX--Back home in Tennessee, native son Dan Uggla scaled the rocky top of the Southern League in his first full season at the Double-A level.

Playing about four hours from where he grew up, Uggla looked right at home, making the Southern League's midseason and postseason all-star squads and hitting .297-21-87 with a career-high 33 doubles. While playing all four infield positions, Uggla was third in the league in home runs, tied for fourth in doubles and seventh in slugging percentage (.502).

"He had a terrific year, really a step-out year for him at Double-A,'' scouting director Mike Rizzo said. "He can really play.''

His offensive production carried over into the Arizona Fall League, where he had three home runs in his first three games.

Uggla was a third-team All-America second baseman as a junior at Memphis before Arizona took him on area scout Scott Jaster's recommendation in the 11th round in 2001.

Rizzo said he sees a little of major leaguers Jeff Kent and Tony Graffanino in Uggla, a scrappy 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds.

"He's a solid, stocky guy with some pop,'' Rizzo said. "He has power when he pulls the ball, but he can use the whole field. He's a hard-working kid, blue collar. He's always dirty. He's a baseball rat.''

A middle infielder in college, the 25-year-old has played all over the infield in each of the last two seasons. He also played left field in 2004, split between high Class A Lancaster and Double-A El Paso.

"I think he has a chance to be that everyday offensive second baseman,'' Rizzo said. "He runs pretty well, although he is not a burner. He handles the glove.''

Is it Uggla as in 'Ugueth', or Uggla as in 'Ugly'

If it's Uggla as in 'ugly', then we will all sound like rural, redneck farmers when we say his name.

Ok, we now have a replacement for Three two Juan

Four three TWOOOOOOOOOOOO

You guys are all about the marketing. How about this one:

The 2006 Marlins: We're so uggla.

I would rather listen to someone say that at the top of the 3rd (?) than David Singer.
