Marlins (70-62) vs Pirates (60-70)

vs

D. Willis ------- J. Fogg

11-4, 3.35 ---- 7-7, 5.54

Game Preview: :compute The Florida Marlins will try to keep at least a share of the NL wildcard lead and hold off the pack of teams behind them tonight as they attempt to salvage the finale of their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at PNC Park.

The Marlins remain tied with Philiadelphia for the wild card spot despite losing 7 of their last 8 games.? The Phillies play at Montreal this afternoon.

Rookie lefthander Dontrelle Willis will try to stop the bleeding for the Marlins and regain his early season success.? After starting 9-1 with a 2.08 in his first 13 starts, he has struggled recently and is 0-2 over his last three starts with a 9.69 ERA in 13 innings.

The Pirates will go with Josh Fogg tonight.? Fogg has just one victory in his last six starts (1-3) and is coming off a no-decision against Milwaukee on Saturday, when he threw five innings. During those six games, Fogg has surrendered 23 earned runs in only 25 innings.? He is 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA in two career starts against the Marlins.

The Marlins bats have been silent lately, managing only 4 hits in last night's loss to the Pirates.? Manager Jack McKeon has tried everything he can think of to spark the offense: shuffling the lineup, resting All-Stars, manufacturing runs.? McKeon's running out of ideas.? "I went to church once today. I'll try to go twice tomorrow."

"These guys will snap out of it," said McKeon. "Sooner or later we're going to break loose. We keep hoping it's going to be sooner."

Notes: Castillo has a 12-game hitting streak. Pittsburgh's Reggie Sanders needs one more HR to give him 30 for the season. Only five other right-handed hitting Pirates have hit 30 in Pirates history. Willis has given up a home run in six straight starts after allowing only 3 in his first 14 outings.

PRESS RELEASE ..The Florida Marlins Front Office have offered a 10 million dollar reward for any person who can find their ever eluding offense.

:plain :shifty

we've turned into the dodger offense...

This inning was supposed to be over 10 minutes ago

this is bulls***. just forfit the damn game and come home already if youre not going to respond to that :banghead

3-run double. 3-0 Pirates. Marlins haven't gotten a base hit through 4 innings. The way they've been hitting, 3 runs might be enough.

Willis battled through the first few innings & got out of some jams, but really got himself into trouble in the 4th.

Leadoff double, then head-scratching play when Willis ran after a slow grounder to 2nd and got into Andy Fox's way. I'm not sure Fox could've thrown the guy out but I think so. Then he walks the bases loaded & gives up the 3-run double. Pitchers get themselves into these situations.

Meanwhile the Pirates have outhit the Marlins something like 28-7 in this series.

we f***ing suck.

pathetic.

this pirate pitching staff is not that good.

sigh

LOL just come home from School and find out not only are we losing but getting dominated by another scrub pitcher. Willis continues to look mediocre. This team HAS to stop watching the phucking scoreboard. I still can't stand watch this crappy team so I just get updates PIRATES SWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Play Mike Lowell only against NL east teams

Wasn't Fogg a prety highly rated prospect before he came up?

It's only his 2nd season, he's not too bad...

Marlins hitters are terrible. Pudge is 0-11. Cabs 0-11

Cabs hits a screamer to deep right....J.J. Davis with an impressive jumping catch.

meanwhile Willis has thrown a ton of pitches. Start warming up the pen.

Cabs hit one to the track

fogg is not bad.....

but he is not THIS good.

Finally JP breaks up the no-hitter....lol

If I were Mckeon I would pull a Parcells right here and walk on these guys. It could fire up this team. At this point I would try anything right now.

Josh Fogg has thrown just over 60 pitches in 5 innings of work...

Marlins collect first hit on a Pierre single...

Sorry baseball gods, baseball gods you are the best!!!!!!!!!!but can you help us win baseball gods, lets win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally JP breaks up the no-hitter....lol
