January 15, 200620 yr Hermida won't be the only ROY candidate on the Marlins. I'd say there's over a 50% chance the NL ROY is a Marlin. I'd put money on that.
January 15, 200620 yr It's impressive that we have 4 of the 10 mentioned with Hermida topping the list. We're going to have plenty of competition for the top rookie on our own club! I can't wait for Spring Training to start.
January 15, 200620 yr I agree that Petit could end up being ROY too. Hermida, Jacobs, Petit, and Willingham all have a shot. So does Olsen, but the question with him is whether he can stay healthy.

January 15, 200620 yr Having all these candidates on the same team will just end up working against the Marlins, as they will be competing against each other and take votes away from one another. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on Prince Fiedler.

January 16, 200620 yr Petit could be mentioned as a possible rookie of the year to I have this bad feeling that Petit will just get lambasted in the big leagues. His stuff isn't that good and has succeeded on smoke and mirrors in the minors.

Determining rookie status: A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).
