It'll be weird having a #2 not named Luis Castillo. :(

Shouldn't be that weird, since he wore #1.

I like how Olsen took Burnett's old digit.

Pwned!

I did mean #1 though, seriously. I wouldn't mind if Han Ram replaced Castillo's number.

Odd and disgusting that they'd hand over Conine (19's still open) and Castillo's numbers so easily. I really thought both of those could at least be left vacant for the time being to decide what should be done with them.

Even more interesting is that Resop switched from being #51 to #44 yet Olsen didn't want 51 (the number that he's worn throughout the minors) opting instead for AJ's old #34.

I like how Olsen took Burnett's old digit.

I thought that was interesting as well.

Going to suck though not having a 25 this year.

Also of interest is that Stokes has been given a "real" number (33). Perhaps he really will be getting a very long look in the spring.

Treanor switched from 6 to 20... maybe Uggla asked him for it????

When a player of Dan Uggla's stature comes around he doesn't even have to ask you to switch your number. You simply do it and apologize it took so long.

:lol whammy!!

Who is Mickey Lopez, and when did we sign him? All I can find is that he's a 32 yr old 2nd baseman from the Mariners system?

He's a non-roster invite.

I don't know... but if memory serves, he wore 20 in the minors.

Actually, after doing some research, he wore 25 in the minors.

It's interesting they didn't dole out Lowell's and Delgado's numbers.

Manager and coaches aren't listed here -- could be they are taken after all.

Odd that Kensing has such a low number.

Im suprised Jacobs isn't wearing number 25...he seems to fit that power-hitting 1st baseman mold that usually wears the number

What number did Girardi wear with the Yankees?

I think it was 28.

EDIT: He wore 25 on the '97, '98, '99 Yankees.

What number did Girardi wear with the Yankees?

I don't know what # he had with the Yanks but wasn't he wearing number 8 in his photos last fall. Coach Hill will probably keep 7. I agree with those that didn't like the team doling out the special numbers. One would think they would hold out a few numbers of the players no longer with us for a little while longer. To some of us those numbers are a connection to the good old days.
