January 30, 200620 yr Is there a consensus #1 pick in the upcoming MLB draft? Assuming the Marlins have the top pick are there any superstars on the horizon ala LeBron James, Reggie Bush and Sidney Crosby? I need something to look forward to through the upcoming season! :mischief2
January 30, 200620 yr We won't have the top pick in the 2006 MLB Draft. The draft is in July and based off of the 2005 records. And, for that matter, we won't have the first pick in 2007 either.

And, for that matter, we won't have the first pick in 2007 either. You're right...not sure what the hell I was thinking! :banghead I like your optimism for 2007! I did find a link for some early 2006 prospects anyway... 2006 Prospects
January 30, 200620 yr The favorite right now for #1 overall pick is UNC Tarheel hurler Andrew Miller. Also keep a look out for Miami slugger John Jay.
January 31, 200620 yr Unless I'm mistaken the draft is still held in June. Usually Baseball America has updates on players for the upcoming draft.
January 31, 200620 yr Author I think we really need to take Cody Clinton... :thumbup Hey Wild Card...what do you know about the DL from Boca who signed with Northwestern???
February 1, 200620 yr I think we really need to take Cody Clinton... :thumbup Hey Wild Card...what do you know about the DL from Boca who signed with Northwestern??? Kendal Mason... He goes to my school. I know EVERYTHING about him. He's best friends with my brother. I'm going to the press conference today.
February 2, 200620 yr I think we really need to take Cody Clinton... :thumbup Cody clinton huh....well let see he is showing some orange and blue in those quesiton marks, can he be considering Florida I vote to draft John Jay but isnt he a junior? remember that in the baseball draft, juniors can declare...if you go to a four-year, you need to be there for 3 calendar years....so he would be draft eligible this season
February 3, 200620 yr Cody clinton huh....well let see he is showing some orange and blue in those quesiton marks, can he be considering Florida Could be... :shifty
February 3, 200620 yr I don't recall where I posted it, but I put up B.A.'s top high-school prospects for the 2007 draft, the consensus top-3 at the time of my posting were (drum-roll) all pitchers (sigh), absolutely mind-blowing talent from the kids, but still pitchers.
February 3, 200620 yr I expect Drew Stubbs to be in the top three. I would think that my fellow Seminole, Shane Robinson, would also be in the top 15 at least.
February 3, 200620 yr WC I don't know much about the level of play in your area...How would you rate it? 'Tough' 'Moderate' etc...? Because I like Clinton's stats, but unless I know the level he's playing against, it means nothing.
February 3, 200620 yr take my lil cousin Jeff Locke...nasty left hander with great stuff and a coachable attitude!!! and the draft is on June 6th and 7th
February 4, 200620 yr WC I don't know much about the level of play in your area...How would you rate it? 'Tough' 'Moderate' etc...? Because I like Clinton's stats, but unless I know the level he's playing against, it means nothing. Palm Beach County produced the most high school draft picks of any county in the nation last year (including two pitchers in the first-round)... He was the only non-senior to be named First-Team All-County last season, and was also named Second-Team All-State. I'd say the competition was pretty good... And I'd say he did pretty good against it...

Also any sophomore turning 21 before the draft is also eligible to be drafted after that season. Baseball unlike other sports doesn't require anyone to declare early.
February 10, 200620 yr Speaking of Cody Clinton, if you guys want to read up on him, there will be an article in the Palm Beach edition of the Sun-Sentinel on tuesday for the Palm Beach County Baseball Season Preview.
