My short review of the new Gillette Fusion 5 blade razor

Featured Replies

With all the advertising and whatnot for the new Fusion razor, I decided to try it out, I mean 5 f***ing blades, the thing has got to be sweet.

My razor before I bought the Fusion was a trusty Gillette Mach 3, it has served me well. I've used the Fusion everyday for the past week and it DOES NOT give me as close of a shave as I get with my Mach 3, I found some areas of my face required two or even three passes to get a close shave but with my Mach 3 it only required one pass. Also, every single time I shaved under my chin, I nicked myself several times with the Fusion, I never cut or nicked myself with the Mach 3. I also had a ton of razor burn after using the Fusion whereas I never have any razor burn at all with my Mach 3. Also, the Fusion razor itself just feels like a piece of junk when you hold it in your hand, my Mach 3 is rugged stainless steel but the Fusion is like chrome plastic junk. The single blade for precision shaving in tight spaces on the back of the razor head is very cool and works very well, but that's about the only positive thing the Fusion has going for it.

The Fusion is a gimmick and nothing more and anyone on here thinking of trying it out, I would highly recommend not wasting your money.

Yeah, I Pretty much figured. Fortunately, I had no intentions of leaving my Mach 3.

M3Power is more revolutionary than the Fusion Power.

I again wouldn't recommend the switch if you're happy with the M3Power. If you don't have one of the power razors, go for it.

Mach3 Turbo FTW

I have a regular Mach 3 and a M3 Power and I honestly can't notice a difference between the two as far as shaving goes.

BTW, Maxim did a test while ago where they tested 3, 4, and 5 blade razors and they found that 3 was the most you could get before it stops getting closer and starts cutting you and whatnot.

i heard the Fusion was amazing

Yeah, same here.

I think another factor in a razor is the type of hair a person has. Thick stubble, patches, whispy hair, etc. Also how close someone likes their shave.

Well would it work for my thick, curly hair? It gets irritated easily, and smells bad at times..

Oh, are we talking about facial hair?

I've had the Mach3 for a few years now, and I wouldnt trade it for any other razor.

Well I bought it last week just looking to try it and I have not been impressed thus far. It sounds weird for a razor that has 5 blades, but I get no where near the close shave that I used to get out of the Mach3 Mpower razor. All I know is that when the thing is worn out, I'm going back to M3 Power.
