February 25, 200620 yr Rotation: D-Train Moehler Vargas Petit Olsen Pen: Borrowski Bowyer Resop Bump Messenger Kensing Megrew
February 25, 200620 yr It might be helpful to wait until they've had an outing or two before starting picking a rotation.
February 25, 200620 yr Willis, Vargas, Moe, Olsen, Johnson i say we see Petit sometime in the middle of the season.
February 25, 200620 yr It might helpful to wait until they've had an outing or two before starting picking a rotation. Hey know-it-all....the thread asks you to GUESS.....
February 25, 200620 yr Dontrelle Willis Jason Vargas Brian Moehler Scott Olsen Sergio Mitre/Josh Johnson
February 25, 200620 yr I think that realistically, three are shoe-ins (Willis, Moehler, Vargas) one is an almost certainty (Olsen) and the final spot comes down to whether or not Johnson can hold it, after all, I think it is his to lose. Even with strong springs, I don't see the Marlins rushing Petit or Sanchez ahead when most people who are paid to report on prospects feel that more seasoning in AA/AAA is needed for those two. Willis Moehler Vargas Olsen Johnson with Mitre lurking if Johnson just doesn't have it.
February 25, 200620 yr Willis Moehler Vargas Olsen Johnson with Petit as a 6th starter, this team will need it.
February 25, 200620 yr Willis Moehler Vargas Olsen Johnson with Petit as a 6th starter, this team will need it. Petit will be traded to Tampa for Gathright before the season even starts. Petit for Gathright. Do it, do it.
February 25, 200620 yr F*** no to a Petit for Gathright trade Live with it baby, it's gonna happen. Management is going to realize that we have jack sh*t in Center Field, and a PLETHORA of talented pitching.

I carry no shame for committing my fullest hopes and optimism in the Luis Castillo saga. Call them facts if you will--sounds rather silly and childish to me. Point is, this Cubano thinks Petit will be gone before the season starts. And stop getting so damn technical. Everyone knows it's not a fact--it's my opinion. I'm not going to spell it out for the context-challenged folks out there.

February 25, 200620 yr As of the 25th of the 2nd month in the year of our lord, 2006, I predict: Willis Vargas Olsen Moehler Petit
February 25, 200620 yr STARTERS Willis Moehler Vargas Olsen Johnson / Nolasco BULLPEN Borowski Bowyer Mitre Bump Resop Messenger Nolasco
February 25, 200620 yr Willis Moehler Vargas Johnson Olsen Pen Borowski Bowyer Mitre Bump Resop Messenger Megrew
February 25, 200620 yr F*** no to a Petit for Gathright trade Live with it baby, it's gonna happen. Management is going to realize that we have jack sh*t in Center Field, and a PLETHORA of talented pitching. If they didn't take Lasting Milledge over Petit, they sure as hell aren't moving him for Gathright. It would be a terrible front office contradiction on Admins part to do that trade simply because Milledge > Gathright. You might view Olsen as better then Petit, but based on the organization's preferance for Petit in the Mets trade tells me they REALLY like Petit. Also, Petit's name is not floated anywhere in talks with Tampa. It's all Olsen, and this also makes sense because they are going to want a lefty to compliment Kazmir and Hammel, their top two young SP. It seems to me you are crossing your fingers and thinking happy thoughts that they don't move Olsen because you love him. That's fine. But I'm just trying to rationalize the front office's moves because it seems you are overlooking some key aspects besides "we just need a young CF." If it's going to happen at all, it's going to be Olsen. It would be done already if Beinfest thought Gathright was worth Olsen or Petit straight up, but obviously that is not the case. Maybe they throw in Nick Green or something (I know a lot of you laugh at this, but he is a significant upgrade over Uggla/Pokey and would be a nice complimentary player for years). I agree with you though, that they are eventually going to realize Reed (and Abercrombie) are not going to hit for anything in the bigs and will make a move for some sort of outfielder. ------- Concerning rotation theme of thread, right now, I would hope something like this happens assuming Olsen goes: April - Willis, Moehler, Vargas, Mitre, Johnson/Petit Early July - Willis, Moehler, Vargas, Petit, Johnson/Mitre/Nolasco Mid Aug/Sep - Willis, Vargas, Petit, Anibal, Johnson/Nolasco Willis (32), Vargas (30), Moehler (25), Mitre (20), Johnson (20), Petit (17), Nolasco (12), Anibal (6) It's in their best interest to phase them in slowly, and not make them completely overexposed like Greinke. We DO NOT want any of these guys to have to do what Greinke did last year, and they can easily do this if they are smart about it. Another opinion, baseball prospectus belives this will be the start breakdown for 2006: Willis (31), Mitre (31), Vargas (30), Moehler (24), Johnson (21), Olsen (13), Petit (4), Anibal (3) If they keep Olsen, I like it. Except throw a dozen of Mitre's starts to Olsen, Petit, and Anibal over the course of the last few months.
