April 12, 200620 yr Hey i saw the new big screens the other day at the Dolphns fan thing....I was just wondering who went to the game today and what they thought about the screens....How much better are they for baseball, like do they really make replays and intros awesome..??
April 12, 200620 yr can't wait to see it.......couldn't go today-i've been to every other home opener
April 12, 200620 yr Funny you should ask. Being older, I have Varilux lenses in my glasses. For those who don't know they are an invisible triple focal point lense. I found reading the jumbo screen nearly impossible. I also think it's media overkill. Too much data in one place. Sort of like the sensory overload one gets trying to read Wired Magazine. Sometimes simpler is better. I also wasn't overly impressed with the colorization, I know it's early in the process and no doubt better graphics will be developed but all in all I was underwhelmed considering all the hype.
April 12, 200620 yr The picture quality is absolutely amazing. I was glad to see we finally have somewhere to look at pitch count. All the scoreboards inbetween the lower and upper deck were taken out.
April 12, 200620 yr They were great. All of the information you wanted to see in one place. Finally we get to monitor pitch counts! Strikes, balls, total pitches for both pitchers in the game. All of the same data is shown on both video boards, but it is arranged differently due to the different size/shape of the boards. The video is very sharp and they are easy to view regardless of sun angle.
April 12, 200620 yr man awesome! And I bet they'll be better at night! I could hardly read the old screens!
April 12, 200620 yr ive got some pics to share... ive just gotta uploiad em 1st.. itll be a few days..
April 12, 200620 yr very very good video quality, and tons of info given the graphics werent great, but that should improve over time also: is there a reason why the smaller information boards at the top of the club level were taken out?
April 12, 200620 yr They were absolutely amazing. We finally get to see pitch counts, and the picture is clear plus a bunch of info gets put in one place. My only complaints are that we don't get to see OBP or walks on the smaller board, and the gun doesn't work all the time. But other than that it was great. The picture is incredibly clear and I love the info being in one convenient angle.
April 12, 200620 yr Did anyone see when they showed the players height/weight etc: For Hanley's it said "5'9, 180 pounds and bats/throws- Left" :mischief I was even on the screen before the game. I was waving for hours with my teal and black trucker hat. It was awesome.
April 12, 200620 yr also: is there a reason why the smaller information boards at the top of the club level were taken out? The only thing I can come up with is that they are being replaced with LED boards.
April 12, 200620 yr Every Marlin except Miguel, Hammer, and Olivo was 5'9" and 180 with L/L according to that board :lol
April 12, 200620 yr Every Marlin except Miguel, Hammer, and Olivo was 5'9" and 180 with L/L according to that board :lol :lol Yea. I saw that.
April 12, 200620 yr I was even on the screen before the game. I was waving for hours with my teal and black trucker hat. It was awesome. OMG that was you?! :o ...lmao j/p, I wasnt there :plain
April 12, 200620 yr Screen were cool.. Showed alot of stats like the lineup, pitch count, speed etc... BADASS!
April 12, 200620 yr they were the best part of the game I loved how they track the stats now on the big screens ( I wish they put up there the OBP though or even just BB to use too for my own counts). I loved how they track pitch counts and Ball/Strikes too now. Be nice if they tracked Strike out thoughts I loved them, I think they will be simply amazing in night games and in football games Wayne impressed me alot with them.
April 12, 200620 yr Okay, so what was with the two pitch speeds they kept showing. And, why did it say Woody Williams threw a pitch that was 41 mph. I sorta doubt anyone in MLB would be able to throw that slow.
April 12, 200620 yr Okay, so what was with the two pitch speeds they kept showing. The big speed was MPH, the second would rotate between MPH and KPH
April 12, 200620 yr I thought they were great and it definitely is nice to see everything in one place! The seats and everything else that was orange always looked red.
April 12, 200620 yr I loved them, I always wanted to have a pitch count board somewhere in the stadium.
