Bats take first win from SkyChiefs

April 11, 2006

Ryan Jorgensen hit a go-ahead solo shot in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Bats to a 3-2 victory over the SkyChiefs in Syracuse on Tuesday.

Jorgensen, leading off in the 10th, lifted a 2-1 pitch off Lee Gronkiewicz (0-1) over the left field wall to end the stalemate and give Louisville (1-4) its first win of the season.

The Bats got off to an early lead in the top of the fourth on RBI singles by Jacob Cruz and Jeff Bannon off reliever Brandon League.

The SkyChiefs (2-2) halved the deficit in the bottom of the fifth on a solo shot by Justin Singleton. They tied it in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double by John-Ford Griffin to send the game into extra innings.

Syracuse starter Francisco Rosario allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three over 3 1/3 innings. Louisville's Josh Hall gave up one run and three hits, including the solo shot to Singleton, while walking one over five innings.

Louisville's Jason Standridge (1-0) came on in the bottom of the 10th. After allowing two walks, he recovered to get Singleton to ground out and end the game.

The four-game series continues on Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET.--Max Lance/MLB.com

Woot!

Nice job Jorg!

He keeps it up and Olivo continues to hit .150 and Jorg may get a call up this year.

Jorg is in the Reds system these days, Olivo struggling will have no effect on him.

Good point, forgot about that. :lol

Brilliant!

Jorgy still drops in once in while so I'm told. Must be some kind of record, his first hit the past 3 seasons in AAA ball has been a home run.
