May 3, 200618 yr when was the last time this guy hit....... i hope he does better with us than he did with the M's and Sox.... He did hit .263/.335/.480 in AAA in 2005. 29 HR in 494 AB. A very awful 143 whiffs though. Nothing to exciting for a 26 year old with a terrible MLB resume, but I guess that counts for something? It's worth taking a shot over the Abercrombie/Reed/Aguila/Cepicky/Amezaga 5 spot of awfulness even though I doubt he does anything substantial.

Remember we are cheap.

May 3, 200618 yr MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins today announced they have claimed outfielder Joe Borchard off waivers from the Seattle Mariners, and outfielder Matt Cepicky has been designated for assignment. The announcements were made by Marlins Executive Vice President and General Manager Admin Beinfest. Borchard, 27, batted .222 (2x9) in six games with the Mariners this season, after Seattle acquired him in a trade that sent left-handed pitcher Matt Thornton to the White Sox on March 20. In parts of six Major League seasons, he has hit a combined .192 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI in 108 games. He batted .417 (5x12) in seven games with the White Sox last season. Borchard spent his first six seasons of professional baseball in the White Sox organization, after they selected him in the first round (12th overall pick) in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft out of Stanford University. He has batted .272 with 107 home runs and 343 RBI in 609 games in the minor leagues. Cepicky, 28, batted .111 (2x18) in nine games with the Marlins, after he was selected from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 17. He hit .324 with one home run and six RBI in 10 games at Triple-A this season. During his Major League career, he has batted .211 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 89 games. He has a career mark of .284 with 89 home runs and 499 RBI in 749 minor league games. He was signed by the Marlins as a free agent on Dec. 9, 2005. So will Matt accept the assn. or will be on his way to another club?

May 3, 200618 yr Well that doesn't sound that bad, I thought Borchard was supposed to be a really good prospect a bunch of years ago. Lets give him a shot, it won't hurt, nothing hurts right now actually, we should be shell shocked by now haha
