June 5, 200620 yr "Lastings Millege was high fiving fans along the right field railing, the same way Cal Ripken did 11 years ago on his "victory lap" at Baltimore after breaking Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played. (Mets subsequently lost to the Giants in extras). "We werent to happy about that. I dont know if he's going to be slapping five with everybody after he goes 0 for 15 and the New York fans are booing him", Giants reliever, Steve Klein. Cliff Floyd after the game, "Oh boy. He has a little growing up to do.". "If thats what you want to do, you do that. But at the same time, if you want guys throwing at your head constantly, you proceed to do it that way". Gotta love Cliff Floyd. Going to be VERY interesting watching Millege vs Mets fans in the coming months (years). :lol
June 5, 200620 yr God forbid he show some enthusiasm after hitting a homerun with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th and his team down a run. And oh yea, it was his 1st career homerun. Oh the horror!
June 5, 200620 yr Didn't see anything wrong with it at all. The fans loved it and if the Giants don't want to seem him do it then don't give up the homer.
June 5, 200620 yr Only thing that bothered me about it is that they had to dissect what he did and what it meant on Baseball Tonight, and they couldnt even show highlights from the Marlins game. Same with the RedSox/Yanks game. Kind of like they are purposely leaving the fish off of BBTN on purpose.

How long have the Marlins been in first in the NL East?' that would be awesome.

June 5, 200620 yr I blame most of it on Phillips. The whole piece on Milledge, Phillips looked like a 8 year old in love. Or with anything Mets related. Didnt they sh*t-can him? What a douche.
June 5, 200620 yr "We werent to happy about that. I dont know if he's going to be slapping five with everybody after he goes 0 for 15 and the New York fans are booing him", Giants reliever, Steve Klein. Marlins made the right move in not getting Milledge. I think he's good (MLB starter) but will never be a star. Honestly, I think he's overrated.

He has done nothing but perform at every level and oh yea, he is 21 years old.
June 5, 200620 yr he had one game at the pros before that what had he done? Not gonna write him off but not going to claim him to be the second coming

June 5, 200620 yr I love this guy. If he was a Marlin, and I was in "hand slapping" distance at Dolphins stadium (which doesn't exist..but indulge me), after he belted an extra-inning, game-tying HR...which HAPPENED to be his first ever HR... you better believe I'm sticking my hand out when he's rounding third! This kid is going to be a star, and they're going to love him in NY (as long as he performs, but doesn't that go with everyone in NY?).

There was a 5 minute conversation about the Marlins at the end of the Sunday night game so don't get your panties all in a bunch.

The topic has nothing to do with is it OK for the fans to slap hands with a player after a big home run. Thats obvious. We would all do the same as fans. Now back to the meaning of the thread......... Cliff Floyd thought it was inappropriate but you dont? :lol
June 5, 200620 yr He acted like a kid. It's understandable as he is still a young'N. I like this kids cockiness. It seems he thinks his sh*t don't stink since he is a top prospect. I kinda like that edge in him. Huge differences between him and Hermida.

Jhermida's got a prettier swing though...however in milledges few games in the bigs he has shown his power( the homer) arm he threw an absolute rocket to third from right to third on a line and in the air), speed (tagging up from 3rd) and glove ( made a nice diving catch) exciting player to watch

I was actually comparing the 2 in respect to the way they carry themselves as baseball players. Hermi came in hitting a GS off St Louis and played it off like it was no big deal. No "Cal Ripkinesque Right Field Walk" outta Hermi. :lol

Perhaps not to the game but I would imagine for someone taking his first swings in the major league's that meant something to him.
June 6, 200620 yr Im sure if Sammy Sosa could have reached the fans in wrigley he would have given them high five. Millege is a little young for this but if hes going to make it a tradition it will bring more fans and give fans a little more connection to the player You dont want him to high five people dont let him go deep on you. You dont want T.O to dance on the Star (49er days) stop him.
