June 5, 200620 yr Are Borchard and Ross free agents after this season is done or are they under club control? and if they are under club control, until when?
June 5, 200620 yr According to MLB4U.com Borchard appears to have minimal service time and will not eligible for either arbitration or free agency next season. Ditto Ross.
June 5, 200620 yr So we just decline to offer them arbitration and they are gone? Good. I think Borchard has done well for us, but I've rarely seen Ross.
June 5, 200620 yr For the life of me I can't understand why anyone dislikes Borchard but likes Reggie.
June 6, 200620 yr For the life of me I can't understand why anyone dislikes Borchard but likes Reggie. couldn't agree more. I think Borchard brings a lot to the table, and I'd like to see him more in the lineup.
June 6, 200620 yr I dont particularly care for either. I'd rather have Abercrombie as a 4th OF and Borchard not at all tho.

June 6, 200620 yr I dont know...who cares about power when he puts the ball in play in less than 1/5ths of his ABs for his career and K's a ton?
June 6, 200620 yr They are both very good backup outfielders...what do you want? all-star outfielders on our bench?

I think Borchard brings a lot to the table, and I'd like to see him more in the lineup. Consider the source :mischief2 Borchard has the potential to be the next Lenny Harris, and by that I mean, under Presley, to learn how to come off the bench and pinch hit with success. Plus he's a capable fourth outfielder and maybe first baseman who could conceivably have a decent major league career and be an asset for years to come. He's got years of service time ahead of him before arbitration, he clearly has found a home here, and yes, the possibility exists that he'll be a bust, but for all our misgivings about our new (and unknown) hitting instructor, he seems to doing the job. I'm hoping its a good marriage (Borchard and Presley) that pays dividends for the team in the years ahead.
June 6, 200620 yr I dont know...who cares about power when he puts the ball in play in less than 1/5ths of his ABs for his career and K's a ton? How could you put so much into his major league carreer stats when he hasn't even played one full season for any ball club. He's been traded and released so many times in teh past 2 years he's never had consistant playing time. I think his playing above average and this team would be so much better if he started in RF and had Hermida in CF which is he's natural position. I like Abercrombie but Borhard is out playing him so far without having as much playiing time. The man comes in teh clutch too.
June 6, 200620 yr Borchard is someone who we should keep past this season if he continues to do well, his bat off the bench and his versatility helps us.
June 6, 200620 yr Whats the deal with Ross, who we give to get him? Saw him for the first time last night and he sucked....was late on eveything out there in RF.
