That was the most embarassing game of the season

Featured Replies

wow man we managaed to have JJ lose without giving up and earned run and then strike out 16 times while blowing 2nd and thIrd with no outs and strike out all in a row!!!!!PATHETIC AND EMABARASSING!!!!!

It wasn't embarassing, per se. We hung in til the end and weren't out of the game until the last pitch.

honestly bro id rather blow a save. blown saves happen more then having runners at second and third with nobody out and ur three best hitters up one of which is the leading the NL in hitting and all three strike out. doenst happen very often.

Embarrassing? far from it.

anyway, can we all agree that tonight didnt happen?

The Marlins didn't play today remember, we had another gate delay in the 4th and had to cancel the game.

We didn't hit the ball in key situations. Credit Jason Schmidt on a great pitching performance.

the guy in your avator didnt help the cause.

but u know i understand that we didnt hit and yes i give all the credit to schmidt as he was great but in that situation in the majors and ur the best hitter on ur team(Cabrera) u better come through or ur second best hitter better back u up (Willingham)..

Embarrassing? No.

Did it make me want to drive through the neighborhood playing Mail Box Baseball? Oh yes it did.

If we dont get runners on 2nd and 3rd with NO OUTS and end up losing 2-1 then I just tip my cap to Schmidt and call it a night.......BUT

The Fish had arguably their THREE best hitters up and needed a fly ball to tie the game and a hit to take the lead and came up with the goose egg.

This wasnt a game we were supposed to have won but not tying up just seems impossible.

If you add all 3 hitters avg, you should get about a 1.000avg. What happen?

Yeah the strike outs hurt us but the key imo was the defense. Of course we all recall Hanley's bad throw, but ultimatley we had a chance to erase that with Willy's throw to the plate, but as always, Olivo cant hang on to the damn ball, I dont know about you but Ive seen him do it way too many times, and frankly, IM TIRED OF IT. I bet if he had been catching on Sunday against the Rockies, he wouldnt have made the play Treanor made at the plate. And lets not even dare imagine him making that play Pudge made in the 03 division series against the Giants. The guy can't even hold on to regular pitches for crying out loud;why do you think he doesnt catch the D-train anymore??? Maybe Im over reacting after a bitter and shamefull loss but they need to stick some super glue in Olivo's glove or we're bound to see alot more of this nonsense.

it wasn't embarrassing--Schmidt is a good pitcher

But it was just an awful ninth inning.

Schmidt was 7-0 in 14 starts going into this game against the Marlins in his career. DTrainFan, Hanley doesn't deserve all of the blame for this loss.

I understand your frustration with Olivo on that play Mr.Ebb. With that said.............

Runners on 2nd and 3rd with NO OUTS. No one puts the ball in play. Game over.

Yeah, I know it all sooo frustrating, and you gotta feel for JJ too, he was lights out.

Last Night was definatly the embarassment, tonight was just all about Jason Schmidt. One glaring statistic that has bothered me this season though is the fact the Marlins have yet to win a ball game when scoring 3 or less runs, tonight's loss was another perfect example of that, if we can win some low scoring games that would help us considerably.

Yesterday was an embarrassment. Today was merely a loss.

Let me be the first to say

on a side note

I believe the Marlins are 0-23 when scoring less than 4 runs.

I just got back to my hotel from the game and let me just say, it was a great game despite the outcome...both pitchers pitched great and it was really exciting...far from an embarassment...2nd & 3rd with no outs and no runs scored, that really sucks, but Schmidt had it tonight...National League Rookie of the Month and National League Pitcher of the month up against each other definately lived up to the hype:)...we'll get them tomorrow...Let's Go Fish!
