June 7, 200620 yr Reasons why we lost this heart-breaker. ( in order of importance) 1. Sixteen strike-outs and a masterful performance by Schmidt. 2. Ramirez's throwing error leading to 2 unearned runs. 3. Olivo not handling the throw to the plate. 4. No clutch hitting in the ninth by Cabrera, Willingham and Hermida. 5. If Uggla doesn't trip rounding 2nd on Jacobs hit he would have reached third and probably would have scored to tie the game on the wild pitch that followed.
June 7, 200620 yr I am glad I missed this game. My dad woke me up this morning, I was hoping he would bring good news. Well, I heard... We could have won. Jake, Miggy and Hermida all K'ed in the 9th. I was so mad. My day couldnt have started out any better :plain Well, the S man (I can't spell his name for my life) was in his game. We couldnt string many hits together. To me Hanley is not the one only to blame. JJ has that guy on 2nd with 2 outs. If he would have made a good pitch he would have been out of the inning. Just say if there were runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 down and he did that same thing it would definately be his fault. We just have to try to win tomorrow. I hope :nailbite . No sweep please.
June 7, 200620 yr It shouldnt be forgotten, they need to realize when they have the option of going for it all or trying to just put a ball in play with a ground ball take the groundball. they were giving us the tying run there with the defense back. crap Miggy could of laid a bunt even pretty much at that point. I know you dont take the bat out of your best players hands. But you do take the groundball hit for a run if you can. Just take the easy run
June 7, 200620 yr If you add all 3 hitters avg, you should get about a 1.000avg. What happen? :lol And what does that mean?
June 7, 200620 yr Those people that say "there is always tomorrow" are kidding themselves. That was one of the most painful losses in Marlins history. Honesty I am learning something. If you dont see it then it doesnt hurt. Since I didnt watch the game until the end this loss just feels like a loss. Now I really understand how some people critized us for complaining when the Marlins were struggling. They had no idea what was going on. All they saw was a loss.
June 7, 200620 yr Still hard to believe they couldn't even manage a fly ball, or Cabrera just a weak grounder somewhere.... I mean I can't think of who else I'd rather have up in that situation than Miggy, Hammer, and Hermida. Oh well, let's hope they salvage a game today.

June 7, 200620 yr Shmidt is probably one of the BEST pitchers in all MLB and his change-up was just SICK last night. The only reason we even got any hits is cause he got lazy and made a couple mistakes. But when he had to he was as good as he's been ever in that last ining when he was in trouble. The pitches our guys struck out on were good pitches and Shmidt killed us fair and square. That doesn;t mean we can't be upset about it, god knows I almost threw my phone at my TV when Hanley made that throwing error. Which is another topic all together, his defense has been atrocious at times and I just don't get it. I mean everytime he throws the ball to first I hold my breath Jacobs saved his ass a little eariler in the game digging one out. He can;t seem to make a straight throw. WTF?
June 7, 200620 yr I watched the 9th yesterday and for sure thought we'd at least TIE the game. All we needed was a sac fly! Oh well... you win some you lose some. Let's just try to not get swept today.
June 7, 200620 yr I don't think it was embarrassing, it was actually a great game, we just came out on the losing side. Frustrating? Definitely, seeing the team strike out 16 times is hard to take, but it was a great ball game. Hopefully Dontrelle will save the series for us tonight, and if he throws a complete game or we get a blowout we'll forget about these two loses right away. Reasons why we lost this heart-breaker. That's just what happened man, these things happen to any team in the league. Just because it happened to us it doesn't mean that we are the only team with the monkey on our backs. At least it was a good game, and you can look at it and go like, darn, if we hadn't made those mistakes. Well, maybe in a few years the guys won't make those mistakes, will be more complete players, and we'll come out on top of games like these.
June 7, 200620 yr It's too bad that our hitting overshadows Josh Johnson's great outing, but we can you do. When you have a payroll of under $20 million, expect things like this to happen.

June 7, 200620 yr Not the most embarrassing of the season- the string of games where we lost them all in the 9th are ahead of this one, IMO. Maybe it would've been more embarrassing if the pitcher was some scrub, but it wasn't.
June 8, 200620 yr I think JJ getting the loss last night is a good example of a W-L record not meaning much in rating a pitcher.

June 8, 200620 yr We didn't hit the ball in key situations. Credit Jason Schmidt on a great pitching performance. Gotta give the man his props...not even the Big Red Machine in their best day would have been able to hit Schmidt the way he was pitching today...To bad because JJ was almost just as good
June 8, 200620 yr Yeah it was a great pitching duel, I think Schmidt had more of a advantage because of the number of times the Marlins strike out so far in the season. :cheers for Johnson performance our hidden talent.
June 9, 200620 yr If you look at the Box Score for this Yankess / White Sox game, maybe this loss won't seem NEARLY as bad :thumbup http://baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/box...id=199007010CHA and for those of you who don't get it. Yankees' pitcher Andy Hawkins pitched a No Hitter and lost. Fielding errors and probably BB's allowed the White Sox to win 4-0 despite not gettings a single hit result
