June 11, 200620 yr A tropical storm is an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 17 and 32 m/s (34?63 kt"]
June 11, 200620 yr And the season kicks off with a Charley-like route. Be prepared Capey! If it goes a little south, we could get some nasty rains. And ya, Tally could get it's first head-on collision in a while. :lol :lol :lol

June 11, 200620 yr Why are people in South Florida concerned? It's not even close to South Florida. Thats a good question. I don't understand why people are worried when it is North Florida that should be the one worrying if at all.
June 11, 200620 yr The storm's really not going to be a big deal down here or anywhere else. But since it's so weak, I think the rain is the thing to be worried about, rather than the wind. From that standpoint, SoFla has as much to worry about as anyone else. But, really, it's not worth stressing over for anyone.
June 11, 200620 yr personally im not stressed, its just that this reinforces the fact that we gotta be watching out for these for the next 4-5 months.
June 11, 200620 yr This storm only has water managers stressed....other than that I consider it a dry run for the new format of Hurricane Warning 2006 and if anyone in Tampa goes all-out with streaming video of the storm....our wonderful VideoBox will return.
June 11, 200620 yr I hate hurricane season. :confused I agree, but it is always here June 1-November 31.

Charley* And ya, that's the only purpose of my second sentence.
June 12, 200620 yr Author Hey, I'm not the one who added the smiley faces. No, I'm just responding to you. Although I see that I should have combined those two sentences, because it does look a bit awkward. And the season kicks off with a Charley-like route. Be prepared Capey! June 12, 200620 yr For those of you that know hurricanes, which games have the greatest chance of being rained out this week? Theres an awesome storm website out there I usually check this time of here, very helpful. http://www.storm2k.org
June 12, 200620 yr None of the games will be rained out this week. Alberto will have absolutely no bearing on the weather save for a few minor feeder bands down here for the rest of the week.
June 12, 200620 yr Evacuations are starting for the Gulf Coast. (Ones who live by the water). Goodness.
June 12, 200620 yr Author I don't recall the exact numbers, but a cat 1 should produce like 4-6 ft of storm surge? I mean, this is purely a rain storm--wind might knock down some small trees and shuffle leaves about, but the main concern is flooding I'm sure. My cousin is actually doing a weather report for FSU's TV station up in Tally in about 10 minutes. He has knowledge of meteorology that b4p and cape could only dream of.
June 12, 200620 yr My cousin is actually doing a weather report for FSU's TV station up in Tally in about 10 minutes. They letting them do reports on WFSU or they stuck on 4FSU for the moment? WFSU should bust it open to compete with WUFT in the landfall area as both offer service there and FSU's Met. Dept. kills UF's Journalism School in this kind of coverage.
June 13, 200620 yr The Big Bend coast is very shallow, so the strom surge is much higher than would be for a normal Cat 1, probably around 8-10 feet.
