When do you believe Sinkbeil will make his Major League debut?

He'll be traded in '09.

He'll be traded in '09.

Almost funny.

It might be the optomist in me, but I could see 2007. Depending how he does the rest of this year and then midway through next season.

I hope not. There is absolutely 0 reason to rush this kid. Then again, if he goes Mike Pelfrey on our asses, why the hell not.

I'm optimistic. I don't believe we'll need him before 2008 at the earliest.

I think a college pitcher, how can I word this...well, he shouldnt be rushed, but he could surely be brought along faster than a high schooler.

I guess I'll just say Sinkbeil will have MLB experience already when it's time for VolSTUD to join the rotation. Maybe not much, but he'll get there before, just because IMO being a college pitcher he can progress faster.

If he is definitely projected as a starter (which he should be) then 2008 would be the earliest, and thats if he dominates. I guess he could occur in late 2007, but he'd have to have flown through to AA ball and been awesome there, and it would require injuries to the ML staff to open a spot.

Its possible if he is moved to the pen that he could certainly look for a spot in 07, but really, that'd be a waste.

So I guess i'd say 08 at the earliest, and again it would depend a lot on injuries/trades etc to open spots. The truth is he has a stack of pitchers already in the system that are ahead of him.

Only thing that hurts him is the sheer amount of starters...D-Train, Johnson, Olsen, Nolasco, Sanchez, Vargas, Petit, West, Thompson, Garcia, Thompson, and Volstad...and now Sinkbeil, that we currently have either on the team or working their way up through the system.

but then again, thats the kind of depth it doesnt hurt to have.

I think a lot has to do with where he reports.

If the Marlins think he's ready for Jupiter, I could see him be a September callup next season, if they send him to Jamestown, theoretically that places him behind on the "readiness" depth charts of Volstad, West and the rest of last year's crop.

You have to realize that some if not most of those mentioned will be traded away for other players....let's give our first pick a chance to get his feet wet in Jamestown and see how he does there....he is coming off of a long season in college baseball.....

I'm gonna say 2009, maybe a september callup in 2008. I could be wrong but I would say 2 - 2 1/2 years of minor league baseball is about right. Possibly less because of the aforementioned college experience, but I will still stick with that

I'm hoping they'll assign Sinkbeil to Jamestown...I live in Jamestown and have had the opportunity to see a few prospects work their way up the organization...although they changed the logo and team colors this year...its now a bunch of grapes wearing a baseball hat..yeah...you heard that right..A BUNCH OF GRAPES?!?!?!?!?

I think 2009, but there's really no way of predicting this, it depends on our needs at the time.

We haven't seen this kid pitch to know what kind of stuff he has and what he needs to develop...Lets have him put on a uniform first. He is a sinkerballer from what I have read so control is of extreme importance for his development as a professional ballplayer. I would say he is on a 3 year plan unless he starts dominating everywhere he plays than a 2008 arrival might be possible. I wouldn't bet on it because of the surplus of pitching talent ahead of him in our farm system.
