June 18, 200620 yr Why would a Crawford trade have to include D-Train ? If the Rays truly have CC on the block(which is the part im not convinced of), no other team could offer a pitcher on Dontrelle's level, and we have the young arms to make the deal happen. I could see a Ricky Nolasco and Aaron Thompson type package getting it done. What are Crawford's stats rite now because Nolasco is really doing good and I dont think many of us is ready to give him up .314/.355/.498 10hr 22sb 36rbi 45r
June 18, 200620 yr I say if we can give them a few guys in the minors go for it. Then we have to pray they that they dont turn out for the Rays :lol . If you look at Carl's stats he is very consistant. Batting .300 against lefties and righties. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player....layer_id=408307

You can't just give up Moehler, Herges and a minor leaguer and expect to get quality back. His stats this year so far - .313 BA .354 OBP .496 Slg with 22 SB and 10 homeruns. Thats a 30-30 guy for many years to come.

June 18, 200620 yr Nolasco? Absolutely not. Why not offer Chris Volstad, who has struggled in A ball, and another upper level prospect like Anibal or Petit. But not Nolasco. And I agree...Crawford would look great manning CF in Dolphins stadium.

And I agree...Crawford would look great manning CF in Dolphins stadium. Because the Rays would want a Major League ready pitcher they can put behind Kazmir right away. I really believe this is a moot point anyways, as Carl Crawford will not be traded. Especially now with Elijah Dukes being suspended indefinitely
June 18, 200620 yr To get Crawford it's probably going to take one of Olsen/Johnson/Nolasco plus another lower level pitching prospect or two. I'd be willing to make that deal (and even one with a package including Willis if the deal was also expanded on the D-Rays side) because of Crawford age, potential, production so far, and reasonable contract, though I'm in the minority.
June 18, 200620 yr If the D-Rays wanted Olsen for Gathright I can't imagine what they want for Crawford, but damn he would fit perfectly on this team. My thoughts exactly.
June 18, 200620 yr I would think the last guy the DRays would want is Dontrelle Willis. With a paycheck spiraling out of sight, one would think the Rays would seek instead one of our three successful rookie starters, another in AA/AAA and probably one of last season draft picks. And you know what, in the right situation, depending on who is waiting in the wings in Albuquerque and Zebulon, considering the terms of Crawford's contract and what he could contribute, not just by himself, but back to back with Cabrera, this team becomes instantly competitive with anyone. But first the Fish have to get through these interleague games and stay in contention, and beyond that get far enough into July and close at least half the gap that exists today in the wildcard before one can legitimately expect ownership and the FO to consider taking such a bold step. In short, it is almost out of the realm of possibility. But then again so was 2003.
