Carl Crawford

In two differnt places on the espn website (kurkjian article and rumor mill) they have the Devil Rays possibly looking to deal this guy for pitching. Ervin Santana was one guy mentioned as well as the rockies.

What do you guys think of dealing Petit and Sanchez for crawford. I know ther are alot of peolpe who really like those guys but if you are not going to deal any of the young three currently in the big league rotation you are going to have to deal some significant prospects. It may even take one of the single a guys as well.

We do have plenty of young pitching and crawford is locked up at a good salary til 2010. He is 24 with tons of upside. It would be nice to build around the offensive nucleus of crawford, hermedia, ramirez and cabrera along with the other young guys that are showing potential.

Thoughts?

Not gonna happen as much as I'd love for it to happen. Crawford is one of my favorite players.

Id do it in a heartbeat but that aint gonna happen

I would do it in a heartbeat too. And who's to say the Rays wouldnt be interested in that?

Hey, like I said--if the Fish can get to .500 by the trade deadline, they may deal for a CF.

they want 2 top rookies and 2 young major leagues and need pitching in there for him according to espn lol

basically they want to steal someone's farm system lol

would love to see that happen also. guy can flat out run, but the demand might be too high for us and adding onto the payroll just doesnt seem likely wit us right now.

Carl Crawford is one of my favorite players, and could help the team out immensly in offense. However, I don't think the front office is going to trade prospects for proven players this season.

If it happens, the Rays'll have to find a new place to play because the fans'll burn down The Trop...

same for us for willis or miggy hehe

i wish we could get him. he's a heck of a ballplayer, so it'll take a lot of young arms to get him. i don't know if the front office will be willing to trade some of the pitchers away. it sounds like the d-rays will be requiring a lot too. i'd give it the thumps up though..

And you're talking about Gaby Sanchez, not Anibal, right?

'Cause I wouldn't do it for Petit AND Anibal.

I wouldn't trade two top stud pitching prospects, even for Crawford...

If the D-Rays wanted Olsen for Gathright I can't imagine what they want for Crawford, but damn he would fit perfectly on this team.

They would want Dontrelle...no question about it. I already read it in some article.

That may be an even trade as well....but you hate trading a guy like D-Train.

They are really trying to get good fast :plain

I think the price the Rays FO would ask for Crawford would be too high (IOW, it would include the D-Train), and trading Dontrelle would be bad for the club at this point on many levels.

Why would a Crawford trade have to include D-Train ? If the Rays truly have CC on the block(which is the part im not convinced of), no other team could offer a pitcher on Dontrelle's level, and we have the young arms to make the deal happen. I could see a Ricky Nolasco and Aaron Thompson type package getting it done.

What are Crawford's stats rite now because Nolasco is really doing good and I dont think many of us is ready to give him up

It is the Rays FO we are talking about here. The same FO that held out for either Olsen or JJ for Joey Gathright (!). Not to mention other players they have held out for in past trades/trade discussions with other teams.

I just think some of these names of Marlins prospects we are throwing up are as unrealistic as the names fans of other teams were throwing up for possible trades for D-Train and/or Miguel. I'd love to be proven wrong.
