ok...i realize that this could come back and bite me...and even though the democrats are offering very little in the same of a suitable candidate...but i just dont see how america votes republican in 08...i mean damn...hasnt this country been screwed up enough in the past 6 years that people realize...hey...bush isnt a good president and the direction the republican party seems to be taking us in could lead to the end of the world...hmmm...not good

B/c if you'd use logical reasoning, you'd realize that mccain and guiliani are republicans but are completely different than Bush. In fact a nomination of either of them will show that the republican party isnt going in the same direction Bush wants to take it. Guiliani in particular would bring reformist ideals to spending. I dont like McCain at all, and if he gets the nod I'm most likely voting democrat.

my logical reasoning tells me that republicans are republicans are republicans...and they will always help big business and most current republicans have their heads so far up bush's ass you dont know where the elephant begins or ends...while rudy and mccain may have some different ideas, i dont see either being a very a good president or changing alot of the horrid mistakes under the bush administration

Thats only b/c you dont want to and you hate republicans. It's just your opinion. Compare Ford to Reagan. Very different republicans only 4 years apart

i dont hate republicans...99% of my family is republican...i just think the last two republican presidents who just so happen to be father and son are both dumbasses and have directed the republican party as such...if rudy or mccain would take us out of the middle east and start to take care of the many problems at home, then id vote for them, if democrats did that, id vote for them...see im one of those people who believe what washington said about political parties ruining america...and they will...im of the theory of voting for the person, not the party...there are things that i like and dislike about both parties...mostly...i just wish we actually had a president capable of running this country and not pissing the rest of the world off and who would figure out how to solve the numerous problems back home

So why would it be wrong to vote for guiliani if you vote for the person? The only reaosn you gave is that its incredible to you that ppl would vote republican in 08

because most(not all) people in this country vote by party, not by person and last time i checked bush's administration didnt exactly get praised in most recent approval polls about his policy and various other things which would seem to indicate that im not the only one who wouldnt vote republican...and yes...could someone like guiliani change many of the stances of the republican party...yes...but those changes would take quite some time so even though guiliani would be president, most of his current policy would be the same/similar to bush's for about 2 years

I dont think Hillary would make it out of the primaries. I think it will end up seeing the Dems running a governor. If they were smart they would run someone spanish on their ticket.

I want the best candidate. And this is what I hate, they shouldn't nominate someone just because they're latino or whatever. They should put the best possible candidate out there at this time.

And I'll end up voting for whom I think is the best come next election, no matter what party they're from.

I agree with you and will end up voting the same way with the determination of whom I like on the tickets and their viewpoints and records.

But, governors have more success getting elected then senators do. They need to also consider someone whom has the best chance of getting into office. Most policies now for canidates are so party controlled anyways.

The Dems have two good candidates on their side who can get support in the south. Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico has a Hispanic background, and former Governor Mark Warner of Virginia is a moderate Democrat who has a lot of good ideas.

I'd vote for Richardson over most Republicans that would run, but I doubt Richardson will get the money to win the Dem primary.

but isnt warner in his first term as governor now? So he has little experience

No, his Vice Governor has become the new governor recently. Right now Warner does not have a position.

No, he was term limited. Virginia only allows its governers one term.

Exactly.

He was extremely popular in VA during the term he served.

I see him as a much better option than John Edwards in the South. Those two represent the only real Southern Democrats that have any chance in the primaries. There might be another one, but I can't remember.

Well we all know the past 3 presidents (totalling 1989-2008) have come from the south. Two of them were governors (Not sure on Bush 1, can some one clear that one up for me?) So most likely, unless there is a dramatic shift in political philosophy, the best route to go is get a southern governor for the nomination.

He really is from Maine(nor is W really from Texas either). But he was a Congressman from Texas after he made his money in Texas Oil.

He served two terms as a Representative to Congress from Texas. Twice he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate. Then he was appointed to a series of high-level positions: Ambassador to the United Nations, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Chief of the U. S. Liaison Office in the People's Republic of China, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

In 1980 Bush campaigned for the Republican nomination for President. He lost, but was chosen as a running mate by Ronald Reagan.

As far as southern candidates go, Evan Bayh could probably wipe the board with the south. People say he comes of extremely artificial but Ive also heard the opposite. Probably wont be able to strike a good balance between the different groups of the party. The other southern candidate is Wes Clark. If he got the nomination, I think he would easily win.

Its hard to predict who will go right now. A lot of democrats simply dont know about other candidates. We are hearing the names people know of like Clinton, Kerry, and Edwards. I guarentee you that Kerry will not come close. We heard Lieberman all time in 2004 because he was VP candidate in 2000. I just read the other day that Elizabeth Dole, not McCain, was supposed to be the one to go up against Bush in 2000. Name recognition controls right now.

Does Wes Clark want to run again?

The big knock against Edwards is his extremely limited political experience. He spent like what, one term in Congress? Right now he has no job that I know of.

Jeb :notworthy

He's the total package.

I'd rather become castrated.

I HOPE you're right. PLEASE be Jeb Bush. I'm not even kidding.

PLEASE, run! Jeb, I'm beggin' ya'.

Two words: Bush fatigue. Jeb is smart not to run now.

Does Wes Clark want to run again?

.

He hasnt announces yet but I think its pretty reasonable that he will give it a shot. No reason not to. He didnt do too badly for having come into the race so late. I wouldnt mind seeing a Warner/Clark combo.

Das, you must know nothing about Jeb. He's completely different than his brother. His biggest asset is on education and all the Dem. teacher's love him. I can see him running in 2012 but not 2008.

Exactly...all the bad press from the liberal media outlets...Bush will run in 2012.

Hell no to Jeb.

Reason being???

And don't tell me because of his last name.....
