Posted September 27, 200321 yr Marlins open NLDS in San Fran By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com MIAMI -- Winners of a tightly-fought Wild Card race, the Marlins open their National League Division Series Tuesday against the Giants at Pacific Bell Park. The Marlins, who have lost five of six against the Giants, will play the first two games at San Francisco. Game 2 is Oct. 1. After that, the best-of-five series will be played at Pro Player Stadium on Oct. 3 and 4 (if necessary). In their 11th season, the Marlins are making their second postseason appearance. In 1997, the fifth season of the franchise, Florida won the World Series in seven games over Cleveland. The Marlins have lined up their pitching rotation with Josh Beckett (9-8, 3.04) starting Game 1 and Brad Penny tossing the second game. Off on Thursday, Oct. 2, the Marlins will start rookie left-hander Dontrelle Willis at Pro Player Stadium in Game 3. If necessary, lefty Mark Redman would pitch Game 4. Should the series extend to five games, the finale will be Sunday, Oct. 5, at San Francisco with Beckett getting the nod.
September 27, 200321 yr As long as the pitchers remain true to themselves and pitch the way they know they can, we have a chance!!!!!!!
September 27, 200321 yr As long as the pitchers remain true to themselves and pitch the way they know they can, we have a chance!!!!!!! As long we can contain Barry Bonds we have a chance.
September 27, 200321 yr As long we can contain Barry Bonds we have a chance. The marlins are probably going to walk him when ever they have a chance to do so.
September 27, 200321 yr The marlins are probably going to walk him when ever they have a chance to do so. I know I would.
September 27, 200321 yr Great so I am going to have to see the Barry Bonds walk parade. better than the home run parade.
September 27, 200321 yr Congratulations to the Florida Marlins. There are several Cardinals fans in our Cardinal Forum that are pulling for your guys. Go Marlins.flc.
September 27, 200321 yr better than the home run parade. or you can just pitch to bonds and not pitch anywhere near his 'zone'
September 27, 200321 yr or you can just pitch to bonds and not pitch anywhere near his 'zone' So throw a wild pitch everytime?
September 27, 200321 yr Does everyone here forget that Barry has only had one good postseason in his major league career?
September 27, 200321 yr Does everyone here forget that Barry has only had one good postseason in his major league career? Do you know that one good post-season was his most recent: last season?
September 27, 200321 yr Either pitch Barry up and in or low and away. Why not up and away, with Pudge sticking his arm out into the right-handers batters box.
September 27, 200321 yr Why not up and away, with Pudge sticking his arm out into the right-handers batters box. amen
September 27, 200321 yr because intentional walks are for pussies. I'd rather be a p***y and win than pitch to him and lose.
September 27, 200321 yr Author One change to the original article-Redman will start game 3 and Willis would start game 4.
September 27, 200321 yr Off on Thursday, Oct. 2, the Marlins will start rookie left-hander Dontrelle Willis at Pro Player Stadium in Game 3. If necessary, lefty Mark Redman would pitch Game 4. This date is wrong. Game 3 is Friday, Oct. 3 as most of you know.
September 27, 200321 yr Why not up and away, with Pudge sticking his arm out into the right-handers batters box. i think we should sign almonte to pitch to bonds.
September 27, 200321 yr We should only walk Bonds when needed. Walking gets our pitchers' control messed up.
