"The dog days are officially here. If you are a fan of a team that is out of contention, it takes serious commitment to keep watching them night after night. The other day, about five minutes into a Marlins-Nationals game, I realized it was time to shake myself out of my nightly routine of tuning into the Fish game first at 7:05 p.m. "Why the heck am I watching this?" I blurted out to nobody in particular. There are meaningful games being played and this wasn't one of them.

I'll still check in on Miguel Cabrera and the Fish's fab freshmen every once in a while, but it's time to start focusing on the playoff races, which in this day and age usually means the wild-card derbies in each league. We've seen enough of these teams by now to have a pretty good idea of how this will shape up. "

bittersweet, i guess.

but this guy thinks the astros are gonna win the WC.

i just think its weird that a team that's 4.5 games out is not "meaningful", but a game with 2.5 is expected to win it by this guy.

but it's nice that he watches the fish.

Houston has to jump 3 teams, the Marlins have to jump 9

just win baby!

even though our records would be the same, I think we are still behind Milwaukee and possibly SF

personally...i dont care if we get the wild card or not...this season was about getting better, which we did in leaps and bounds and no matter what happens the rest of the year, we will be a force to be reckoned with and will be one of talks of the town come april 07...which is hell of alot better than all the experts had us finishing...and personally...there is nothing better than jeff brantley and steve phillips looking like a moron( which isnt that tough)

We may have to jump 9 but they are all together, not spread by many games at all. I hope we can get it to 2 by September. Crap I am just going to enjoy this because we are not supposed to be here. I should have bet on them when everyone was talking about it.

Speaking of futures wagers.....

If the Marlins win the NLCS and/or World Series drinks are on me.

:D

I don't see us making the playoffs, I'd love to see us make it though. It's gonna be tough. We're gonna have to play well, and not loose ground by losing a series or getting swept. that'd be incredible if we won the WC. if we come near the WC, there should be no reason girardi doesn't win manager of the year

It looks like the Stros and Phils are the only two teams really making a move over the last 10 games.

How can anyone look at that and actually think the Marlins have a legitimate shot right now?

Sad, but true.

And don't tell me I don't have faith in my team or any of that garbage either.

Does this help? :D

Please it's not improbable. Go on an 8 game winning streak and you will lead the wild card.

lol sure... we'll just go on that 8 game winning streak

no biggie

You know what I meant. The Marlins have a very legit shot to win the WC if they can play well.

if the marlins score runs and don't allow any, they will win many games.
