August 25, 200619 yr I know he plays for the Cubs, who have one of the worst records in all of baseball, but 14 wins for a team as bad as they have been? That's impressive. He's also 10-1 following a Cubs loss. It's a shame he gets so little attention. His stuff is magnificent.
August 25, 200619 yr he has been the real ace of that team for years now. He gets very little attention and that's also true in the city of Chicago, they have chosen Prior and Wood as their poster boys
August 25, 200619 yr I cant stand the guy but he's been lights out the whole year. He's flirted with like 2 or 3 no-no's already. Mark Prior cant shine Zambrano's shoes.
August 25, 200619 yr if he was on another team this year he would deffinately but looked at as a strong consideration.
August 25, 200619 yr My top 5: Carlos Zambrano 14-5 (1st), 3.31 ERA (6th), 180 strikeouts (1st), 1.28 WHIP (17th), .207 BAA (1st) 35 Chris Carpenter 12-6 (T-4/5/6), 3.05 ERA (3rd), 138 strikeouts (10th), 1.08 WHIP (1st), .235 BAA (7th) 28 Jason Schmidt 10-7 (T-13/14), 3.23 ERA (5th), 148 strikeouts (6th), .227 BAA (4th), 1.18 WHIP (4th) 25 Brandon Webb 13-5 (T-2/3), 2.99 ERA (2nd), 137 strikeouts (11th), .260 BAA (15th), 1.20 WHIP (5th) 23.5 John Smoltz 11-6 (T-8/9), 3.46 ERA (10th), 169 strikeouts (T-2/3), .246 BAA (9th), 1.15 WHIP (2nd) 23
August 26, 200619 yr Webb has my vote, his all around stats probably average better then any of th others. His BA is only as high as it is because he is a GB pitcher. Zam's K's and W's might clip Webb though. Definatly a tight one but I don't know what the chances of a 20-Game Winning pitcher are
August 26, 200619 yr webb's got some niiiice stats. bonds715, no love for JJ?? He never seems to :thumbdown
August 26, 200619 yr ERA > wins I agree, unless there is a disproportionate difference between the ERA leader's wins and the league leader(s) in wins (as far as the voters are concerned, any ways). See 2005 and Clemens vs Carpenter and Dontrelle. So JJ will have to keep going strong and get run support to win it. He will need to win most if not all of the rest of his games and there would have to be no 20 game winners in the NL this year. As for Zambrano, he is definitely in the Cy Young mix.
August 27, 200619 yr I think the fact that Zambrano has been by far the most dominant pitcher in both baa and k's, as well as leading the league in wins on a horrible team, lends him my vote. I am biased but I just don't think that any of the other guys have done more for their teams on the mound than Zambrano has.

I'm biased too so same here :lol He's been the most dominant NL Pitcher and the fact that he's 10-1 after Cub's losses is just spectacular. He's one of the only guys the Cubs can count on to put them in a position to win every time he goes out there.
August 27, 200619 yr JJ probably won't get it because he won't have nearly as many innings pitched as some of the other guys. He also has no complete games under his belt. Id say Webb or Carpenter are the favorite right now depending on whether Zambrano can give solid seperation in the wins category.
August 28, 200619 yr Not to do someone else's job but what's going on with that kid's signature. Jeepers!
