BlackandGoldInsider.com will update you later this evening, but right now close sources tell us that Ben Roethlisberger is highly unlikely to play this Thursday against Miami in the season opener.

We are hearing that he is in surgury as we speak (nothing to related to Motorcycle Accident).

Bill Cowher will address the media this evening following practice. Check back often as BlackandGoldInsider.com will update you as we get more info...

Plus, with Ward not having played in the preseason, you have to like our chances to steal one.

I hope so.

Apparently, Big Ben was absent from practice today and the Steelers promised an answer from Coach Cowher when practice ends. This is according to the Post-Gazette.

A rumor going around is that it could be appendicitis.

Wow.. Baltimore and Cinci will make this an interesting season in that division.

The blurb from the Post-Gazette:

Roethlisberger a no-show at Steelers practice

By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was nowhere to be found when the Steelers took the practice field at 3:30 p.m. today.

The Steelers promised an answer from coach Cowher regarding the starting quarterback's absence when practice ends at 5:30 p.m.

Some pretty unbelievable news. Ben has had a string of unfortunate things happen after having such a promising start to his career. I suppose odds are finally catching up to him. As a Dolphins fan, I'm pretty damn happy, I just hope that all's well with Rofflecopter but I would rather not have to face him.

Too bad they let Randle El go

I'd love to watch Randle El play QB against the Dolphins defense. I would revel in it.

Just wait til the Superbowl. We'll put him in late in the game when we have a 5 touchdown lead.

It's the 1980s again?

:o

This is some wild isht.

The Dolphins need to take advantage of this, though. Breaks like this don't come around that often.

Part of me wants to celebrate our good fortune, but the other part says it kind of wrong to celebrate surgical emergencies, so I'll try to just stay even keel on this one.

Yea thats real nice to see all these replies supporting him, im so glad we have such classy posters on this board.

oh well we'll find a way to win, this is a "team" sport, and we won the championship as a team.

oh and buckeye, we'll see you week 3 bud.

I wasn't hating. I don't even care.

Good luck to the guy.

I'm not afraid of the Steelers. We beat them last year, we'll try and do so this year.

You'll eventually learn to ignore Dolphins fans :thumbup

They're not celebrating on the guy's grave. He has to get apendectomy surgery (I don't even know what that is). It's not like it's some bulls*** injury (well, kind of).

But, they have a chance to face the Superbowl champs without their QB. I don't blame them.

It's kind of lame to get all offended over this. It sucks, yes. But, he'll be back.
