Kinda ho-hum.

It's hard to believe that Gregg isn't going to be part of the active roster (barring injury) all season.

(That is unless he goes to San Fran as part of a trade for you know who)

and where would Aaron Boone/Kevin Gregg be going?

My bad, I meant to put that under Messenger.

Also... an ironic piece of news...

Reggie hit a 2 run jack today in the Isotopes game against New Orleans

Catchers

Miguel Olivo

Matt Treanor

What Swift said except I'd take Ross over Sanchez.

No need to have Sanchez and Reed on this team.. With Reed being a late inning defensive replacement in CF/pinch runner, Sanchez wont have any sort of role on this team, I'd like to have Cody has someone off the bench who can poke it out of here. I know hes struggeld, but I'd still rather have him than Sanchez.

well if the interest in him is true, Cody Ross could be on a new team come Opening Day

Just to defend my pick: the team's incredibly slow, so having Sanchez gives us a no questions asked burner to just throw out there allowing Reed's ability to be maximized as a defensive replacement and Amezaga a righty matchup.

I still believe we haven't seen our centerfielder in teal yet.

Call me a dreamer but the same may be true in the bullpen as well. Too many good players (good players are good players not great players) are getting squeezed off rosters as teams go younger and younger in an effort to cash in on all that contract money they paid to land these draftees.

There is simply a surplus of MLB quality players and the number increases every year. The have and can continue to profit well by these trends.

Unless that player's Josh Hamilton (because of the rule v numbers game), I truly hope the centerfielder isn't from another team's cut list.

Not to say that there aren't quality players out there to flesh out a roster, but our outfield situation is dire, and I'd just about die if the centerfield situation is an open in-season audition two years in a row.

I do echo your sentiments that we haven't seen the man that will be the centerfielder with the Marlins just yet, but I do disagree about how he will end up with us.

I wasn't suggesting we'll be picking over the carcasses of the discarded from other teams but last minute trading is more what I anticipate. Everyone knows the handful of players I think can be had so to repeat them again gets tiresome but to focus on one, Joey Gathright, who a) is having an excellent spring training, b) had .300 numbers in August and September once he got out of TB in 2006 and c) by everyone's standards can play CF in any park in the league is among a handful of the fastest men in the game. His OPS is always going to suck but if he gets on .350-.360+ at the top of the lineup he becomes an instant difference maker in the field and at the plate.

You look at what is happening in KC's outfield and he has no position, not even a legitimate backup position and if he sticks, it will mean virtually rotting on the bench. I think they move him and keep Butler (.448/.543) around or one of the other kids. Teahen has a lock on an outfield spot making things worse as they move him to right so Gordon can slide in at 3B.

So I remain optimist. But then again I've had my heart broken before.

No one other than Wes Helms was as clutch as Jason Wood last year.

Jason Wood played how many games again?

so he hit a double here and there on the final week, big deal

I didnt say he was Ty Cobb but he may be a nice role player to have on the bench.

We are not going to have a stacked bench this year with Helms gone.

start Cody Ross!

I argee!!!! Cody Ross is the MAN!

too bad he can't hit his weight (right now)

He can't even hit Eric Reed's weight right now. Thats when you know you're slumping.

I'm not going to post a whole list but no Alex Sanchezes, Randy Messengers, and Jason Woods allowed.

I dont see how Messenger doesnt make this bullpen
