April 8, 200719 yr Did you remember a year of 2005? Begining of 2005 season, Mota will take the closer, but he gets injured. So Jones took the job, and he done it very well. I hope so Gardner doing the job like "Todd Jones in 2005". Sincerly.
April 8, 200719 yr Julio will get another chance or two, but he is going to be on a short leash. Might not see him again until it is a 3 run save. Gardner was outstanding, though that last pitch was a ball.
April 8, 200719 yr I have julio as a late round pick up for some saves in my fantasy league...should i drop him now and if so owens or gardner, who gets the saves instead of julio?
April 8, 200719 yr I'm glad everyone boo'ed Julio when he walked off of the field. He deserves it, this guy blows big balls. Even Waltz and Hut were arguing about how bad he is. Gardner really stepped up, he did a hell of a job.
April 8, 200719 yr Freddy showed me something today. He went to the bullpen to replace Julio. He did the right thing. Now lets see what Beinfest says. He has to save face somehow. During today's telecast he mentioned that Julio was definitely the closer and that he had faith in him. Of course, that was before today's meltdown. I hope the manager and the GM talk this out and avoid a rift "a la Girardi". Gardner really impresses everyone today. That was masterful!
April 8, 200719 yr The way I feel is Fredi is hanging on just because of the mgmt.. but its pretty obvious he (julio) can't do the job whatsoever. This seems like the PERFECT ending to the Julio experiment.. a total meltdown that still resulted in a victory.
April 8, 200719 yr Lets just hope the front office is more concerned with winning games instead of saving face and Julio won't be the closer anymore :mischief2
April 8, 200719 yr The crowd booing Julio helps a lot, I think. No way you can keep someone out there who has gotten nothing but boos since he arrived on the scene on Friday.

April 8, 200719 yr Why is everyone crying Gardner for closer because of two outs? The fact that he saved this game does not mean he deserves that job over Henry Owens. If Julio loses the job, it HAS to be to Owens or Lindstrom.

April 9, 200719 yr he was awesome last year for the Mud Hens Do you know his closer stats from last year? 5-5, 2.92era, 61.2ip, 46h, 17bb 45k, 1.02whip, 30 saves Thank You. Looks pretty good. That looks more than good. I wonder what will happen when Tank comes back. Pinto will go down, thats for sure. Tank needs to work his way back up through the ranks.

Yep I'm sure getting 2 guys out is all it take to convince everyone that he is a full-time closer.
April 9, 200719 yr THE CONSTANT GARDNER The Front office clearly is hesitant to install a younger closer. Even if Lindstrom & Owens have more classic closer stuff, they're young and haven't seen the innings and situations that an older guy like Gardner has. It's like Wickman closing over Gonzalez and Soriano in Atlanta. Guts and moxie win out over MPH
April 9, 200719 yr Hey what's Julio ERA now? 16.88 Oh I thought it was higher. :confused Gardner saved Julio's ass by bailing him out with the bases loaded
April 9, 200719 yr Hey what's Julio ERA now? 16.88 Oh I thought it was higher. He got an out while no run scored so his ERA went down unfortunately

He got an out while no run scored so his ERA went down unfortunately If Julio would have been left to his own device his ERA would be around 30.00 about now I have julio as a late round pick up for some saves in my fantasy league...should i drop him now and if so owens or gardner, who gets the saves instead of julio? Drop him now...as fast as you can. You are not getting any saves from him anytime soon...if ever!

April 9, 200719 yr this is the pitcher Pinto has always been it's not like this is a sudden turn of events that he is either deadly accurate with his control or possibly deadly with his control
