not bad.....I will laugh so hard when Julio dominates at the end of the year as a setup man!

ENOUGH! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

I'm pissed, but not surprised. Fredi said Julio will be back on the save situation.

Now tomorrow is another story, a demotion is the only sane thing to do.

Mr. Swift,

How is Julio decling? lol. Seems like he's just in a slump.

Well last year for Arizona he pitched 44 2/3 IP, 31 hits, 55 K's, and 15 saves and for the Mets he pitched 21 1/3 IP, 21 hits, 33 K's and 1 save.

HOW IS THAT DECLINING AND HOW IS THIS SUCH A WASTE OF A TRADE???? Even the Red Sox wanted Julio. I bet he turns it around and you'll eat crow like usual.

i dont think you know what "declining" means, because if you havent noticed, he has ZERO saves right now. but he's BLOWN 2 saves. and he has a 17.something ERA.

What you got for us tonight, Beinfest? :thumbup

Who cares Ramp? Why all the hate for Beinfest? Big deal....he's what 3 for 4 out of closers??? Armando Benitez, Todd Jones, and Joe Borowski were all wins.

So what if Julio is awful......we have more good Beinfest moves to take over (Owens and Lindstrom)

well none of those three were overly costly. Only Benitez actually got paid anything. And none of them cost us a player in return.

It was a stupid trade by Beinfest. I was on the fence at first, but this is a disaster.

This trade will go into the same category as the Castillo trade. And I dont even know why he made it really.

You need to show up at the stadium tomorrow and let Julio, Gonzalez, and Beinfest hear your displeasure. It's time to learn from New York and Philadelphia fans. Be obnoxious.

I think that wont be necessary. Julio won't be closing tomorrow

there are two separate discussions: was it a good move? and is it working?

a. for the "was it a good move?" question.. yes. Give a guy with above average stuff an opportunity to close on a Major League roster, in a contract year. Logically it makes sense, and it cost us a player at a very deep position. And when Danys Baez is making crazy crazy money, it means the market for relievers is out of control, and a one year deal at $3 million, is a bargain worth taking.

b. as for the "is it working?" question.. not at all, obviously. He sucks right now. He's getting demoralized. He needs work in blowouts to try to get those pitches over. He's got good stuff and isn't missing by a whole lot, he has to get his confidence back. The "show confidence in him, he's our guy" thing needs to be over now. Let him work it out at other parts of games.

excellent summary. and I agree with this assessment as well

Best post of the thread......by far.

All I'm trying to say, is that he will turn it around. He has great stuff!

I'm not so sure your last post was entirely accurate wildmarlinman, but if you are correct I promise you I'll be the first one to congratulate you on your bold predictions. I think it'd be freaking awesome if you are right! I do agree with you though, we really do need to relax and take the good in with the bad. We're gonna be alright.

If he were pitching in any other city the mob would have taken him out by now.

forget the mob...the mermaids should have shot him with their t-shirt cannon. Somebody needs to make sure that Julio isn't in a save situation again...I don't care if its a grounds worker or Billy the Marlin...somebody needs to take Julio down.

I'm talking about pre-game when Beinfest is wandering around the dugout. Or after the game. Whenever you see them.

My only displeasure would be if Fredi and Admin sing the same tune tomorrow ("He's still our man"). . . Other than that, yes it sucks and stink now but I don't have a problem with the way things have been managed up to this point.

Stuff alone wont get you places in this league.

He has control thats beyond bad. And he gets hit a lot. His stuff isnt even that great, he just throws hard.

I don't know if you are going to see this in the papers tomorrow or not, but things got heated inside the clubhouse between Julio and "a member of the starting rotation"

good times

really. . . That's not cool. Is not like Julio is blowing these games on purpose or that he is making the decision to be the closer

SCOOOOOOOOOTTY BOY!!

haha if it is, then that's funny because i was talking with my bestfriend and i told him that Olsen was going to kick Julio's bitch ass.

At least in the Castillo trade all we did was lose a great player rather than picking up a player who actively caused losses.

And in both cases we came away with a bullpen arm that could throw 100 and contributed absolutely nothing.

I don't think this is even close with the Castillo trade, unless Petit goes out and have a Livan Hernandez type career

Castillo is one of the premier 2b of the game, and he was cheap too. We gave him for nothing

well you haven't seen how Julio carries himself in the clubhouse...

he isn't exactly a team first guy
