June 21, 200719 yr Wont you defend Loria at any cost 2003? There were signs before he even got to Florida that he had no business owning an MLB team. #1)the way he operates his business(he is a carpet bagger) and #2)he just doesnt have the financial resources available to own an MLB team.
June 21, 200719 yr Athletics designated outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment. Bradley had to have done something to really upset management and/or his teammates. Sure, the club was at least a little frustrated about his frequent injuries, but he was playing pretty well when he was able to take the field, batting .292/.373/.446 in 65 at-bats. Maybe the A's will be able to trade him for some relief help, though he'll have little value left now that the team has to move him. Source: rotoworld.com Bradley for CF? If he can steay healthy he would be a nice upgrade

And you haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. The last time you went on your little jihad you posted so much incorrect information and opinion as fact it wasn't worth the time refuting it. You've never quite understood what actually happened in canada or that allegations by the minority group are neither fact nor true, and that on three ocassions courts and/or mediators ruled unanimously for the Loria side, describing the plantiffs allegations was "without merit". Besides I wasn't defending Loria so much as damning Forbes' inaccurate and unsubstantiated work. If you asked me the right question instead of dishing out you petty insults I would have told you MLB should in fact be more forthcoming with numbers so to put all this rumor-mongering to bed.

June 21, 200719 yr Marlins Still Like Elijah Dukes The Marlins have flirted with the idea of acquiring Elijah Dukes for center field for at least a few months. Back in March, Jayson Stark mentioned the idea. At that point, Peter Gammons felt that the Fish would not trade young pitching to get their center fielder. Now they may be able to get Dukes for next to nothing. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Marlins have Dukes on the radar if they can get him for little. Any breathing reliever might do the trick. If the Marlins think, for some reason, that they can alleviate Dukes' off-the-field issues, it could be a fantastic example of buying low. A less exciting but safe option would be Brady Clark, who recently became a free agent. The Marlins have some interest. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/06/marl...omment-73434184

I like Jacobs at 1B for now. If the price is low RP for them, it's just to good to pass up.
June 21, 200719 yr First, Hermida is hitting lefties fine... 2nd, dukes is batting under .200 isnt he.. and you want him to leadoff?? Get jake healthy and he needs his spot back. Finally, i love the 'just move willy to 1st' argument.. imo, thats a spring training thing, not a middle of the season during playoff push thing.
June 21, 200719 yr I love the idea of getting both Dukes and Bradley. You play rotate Dukes around all three of positions and if Bradley gets hurt again you plug him in there and next year Dukes takes cf. And if Hanleys is'nt gonna lead off Bradley would look pretty good there with his .370 obp.
June 21, 200719 yr Man I am getting excited now. Milton Bradley and Elijah Dukes on the radar screen have my toes tingling. Make it happen Beinfest!!!What do you propose happens to Mike Jacobs in that lineup fishfan?First, Hermida is hitting lefties fine... 2nd, dukes is batting under .200 isnt he.. and you want him to leadoff?? That below .200 BA is terribly misleading. He walks a ton and does not strike out that much. It is a matter of bad luck, he is putting the ball in play and more should be finding holes.
June 21, 200719 yr Those guys are both completely nuts and are cancers to the clubhouse. Beinfest........JUST SAY NO.

Luckily for us, I talked to Admin Beinfest and he told me that after you made such a fool of yourself in the Jeremy Hermida thread he is no longer going to listen to your opinion. BTW: the guy you said will never sniff an .800 OPS in his career is now up to .772 less than two weeks after your comment. :thumbup

OK then...do you think Loria has the financial resources to own an MLB team? I sure dont.
June 21, 200719 yr I'm glad Hermida is doing better. But Bradley and Dukes are a couple of criminals that you don't need around your young players. Are they better ballplayers than Amezaga, Carroll and Abercrombie? Yes! Are they worth all of the other garbage they bring to a team? Probably not. Look how many teams have given up on Bradley and it's not because of his play on the field.
June 21, 200719 yr I'm glad Hermida is doing better. But Bradley and Dukes are a couple of criminals that you don't need around your young players. Why the hell not? Do you think they are going to take Cabrera to rob banks with them or something?
June 21, 200719 yr OK then...do you think Loria has the financial resources to own an MLB team? I sure dont. I don't know and I don't pretend to know what it takes to own a major league franchise. Obviously he has the financial resources to own a ML team. The question really is does he have the money to operate one. I think Ozzie Guillen's comments yesterday about Miami were very telling. There are a unique set of problems here any owner would have trouble dealing with.

There are a unique set of problems here any owner would have trouble dealing with. See, I disagree. I think an owner with connections in south Florida and actually some semblance of wealth(I know Loria has wealth, but when compared to alot of other owners...)who could get things like a stadium done, we would be alot better off. I also disagree that he has the financial resources to own an MLB team(as I dont think there is a difference in owning and operating). He failed in Montreal. Selig handed him the Marlins at pennies on the dollar and he has been adding to his pocketbook ever since. We desperately need a new owner.
June 21, 200719 yr It seems like these Loria bashing threads are like a women's period...we get one once a month like clockwork, and most of us get achey and cranky dealing with it.
June 21, 200719 yr Well, it just sucks knowing that because of our owner our favorite players will rarely if ever be here even 6 years.
