His value right now is perhaps the lowest it has been for the last 2+ years now.

 

If they are going to trade him he better get that ERA back into the 3.5 range at least first and get that WHIP in check both are pretty out there right now.

I agree...hate to admit it but he's pretty overrated, and if we can fill voids, we should fill voids.

 

I absolutely LOVE him and would be heart broken as a Train fan if he was traded. But as a Marlin fan, I'd understand, expecially if we got three sure-thing prospects like the article talks about (Hopefully somebody will get desperate at the all-star break).

I love the D-Train for many reasons but he is over-rated . If we get overwhelmed i think we have to consider moving him

Dontrelle is not over-rated when you look at the whole package he brings to a team.

Based on his pitching stats alone he's worth much less than we got for Beckett.

No one in their right mind would mention 3 can't miss players for Dontrelle if he was just another drone.

It's his intangibles that make him worth much more than Beckett.

Properly marketed in a big city he's worth millions in merchandise sales.

You all should appreciate the special player he is. I've never seen anyone in decades that plays the GAME like it is a game, has fun, enfuses the rest of the team with his reckless hustle. I don't know that there's been a player like him in the last 50 years. I treasure every start he makes, and I advise the rest of you to do the same for as long as he's on the team. You'll see many better pitchers in your life, but you may never see another player like Dontrelle.

Actually we got offered Granderson and Verlander for D-Train, of course this was prior to last year.

 

And if I am not mistaken Boston would of taken either D-Train or Big Tex in the Hanley deal.

As much as I like Dontrelle and would like to see him stick around, it'd be hard to be angry with getting 3 solid players in return for him. Granted it looks like that's not going to happen but it sure could help this club.

I doubt most of these would happen but not very many teams have elite catching prospects. Ramp could list them better then I could I am sure. But most of them that do wont trade them off (like LAD with Martin) or are in the division like the braves are.
