June 16, 200719 yr I would just like to add that I think Hermida has been a total BUST. .213 AVG right now is just horrific. A couple of Gradslams is all he really has, his defense has not even been that good. Unfortunately for the Marlins right now he is still our best option for RF. Borchard starting every week is a scary thought.

Tell me then at what point do you call someone a Bust? Because by definition someone who is a Bust will not have very long to prove he is a bust because he is just not performing at a high level. I have been very dissapointed with him since he has been with the team, sure he has had a couple of great moments especially is FIRST AB in the Majors. Marlin fans are just used seeing exceptionally young talent perform quickly, but thats not how it happens for everyone.

I'm not exactly a big Jeremy fan, but not because of what he has or hasn't done on the field. The guy is an injury magnet. Even if he has no control on those injuries he has suffered. Flukes yes, but... I want to see him go more than a month or so without getting hurt before I pass any judgement on him. His bio dosen't show it, but to me he is still a rookie trying to adjust to the majors.

There was no way the fish were winning that game the way the team was hitting, so bitching about the whole IBB is quite meaningless.

Like someone else said, it was a lose-lose situation. Do you face Teahen, who has better numbers this year, or do you load the bases for a guy who now has a career .400 average with the bases juiced? I gave you my opinion, you gave me yours, neither one is wrong.
June 16, 200719 yr I don't think anyone here wants Hermida to fail, or be as it's been phrased here (in this thread) a bust, because tonight should he start a fifteen game hitting streak we'll probably be five above .500 before it's over. But that said, it's impossible to ignore his mediocre defense so far this season or what appears to be his march towards the Mendoza line, and should he cross it, I think he becomes fair game for honest criticism. By that I don't mean the name-calling "he's garbage", "He sucks", "blah blah blah" but rather honest debate about his place on this team, although I suspect were he to approach .200 Gonzalez would bench him rather than let him sink further as a previous Marlins manager benched Prston Wilson before he could cross the 200 strikeout mark in a season. I don't think anyone would disagree he looks over-matched up there alot of the time. It may be the lingering effects of a previous injury, information we're not privy to, or it's in his head, but were he to continue his lackluster play a stint either on the bench or in AAA may be in store for him.
