July 6, 200719 yr de aza hasn't proved that he's great. but he hasn't proved that he's not.... he needs more time in the bigs with the starting gig to tell if it was just a hot streak or if he's a good player... he seemed better then any other option in the team to play center... except for amezaga but he needs to be used an a utility player since he plays 4 positions(we seen him in center,2nd,short, and 3rd....and i believe last year he played atleast an inning in 1st but i could be wrong) and notice i said amezaga is the best option to play center on the team....keyword: the team. im not saying he's an above average center fielder. but he is better then anyother option because he's an averasge defender in center and can get on base and can get into scoring position (to just stand there for no one can bring him in) Average defender in CF?...Guys how about a brain teaser? On how many teams would Amezaga be the starting CF? (Marlins do not count)
July 6, 200719 yr haha, for a second I had to actually think hard about what De Aza even looks like :lol Hanley Ramirez
July 6, 200719 yr Once De Aza comes back from his injury which has seemed to last forever, I have a suggested lineup that might be a high risk, high reward, especially at the C position, but it might be nice. 1. SS Ramirez 2. LF Amezaga 3. 2B Uggla 4. 3B Cabrera 5. C Willingham 6. 1B Jacobs 7. CF De Aza 8. RF Hermieda 9. Pitcher Willingham, after all was a Catcher, who converted to Outfield. Uggla a # 3 hitter? You realize he's batting in the 240's, right? CF Ramirez RF Hermida 3B Cabrera 1B Jacobs LF Willingham 2B Uggla CF De Aza Ca Olivo I would like to see Hermida in te # 2 slot as was the intention as the start of ST last season. I'd also like to see Willingham there as he is more an OBA guy than a power guy. Solid OBA and makes contact. I also would experiment with Olico at #2. I have never seen a player that is as good in the clutch as he is but stinks in most every other at bat. He is the anti-Uggla who puts up numbers but rarely comes through in the big situation with a key hit or simply by making contact. Bottom line for me is Uggla is a #7 hitter if we have a lineup we are happy with....he gets the fastballs and RBI opportunities because he bats ahead of Cabrera or Hanley.

July 6, 200719 yr Chuck Carr is supposedly making a comeback for Marlins CF That would be SO cool. Yea and he can wear an inaugural year jersey every game to really standout.
July 6, 200719 yr i would like to see them try amezaga hanley uggla cabs jake hammer hermida treanor pitcher kinda like pierre and castillo except with some power in the 2 whole.
July 6, 200719 yr haha I love this quote about Chuckie Carr is perhaps remembered most for his hasty departure from the Brewers in 1997. After popping out to third base on a two balls, no strike count - Carr was questioned by manager Phil Garner. Carr reportedly replied to Garner by saying in third person: 'That ain't Chuckie's game. Chuckie hacks on 2-0.' He was released from the club shortly thereafter. Chuck Carr is the hitting coach for the Salem Avalanche
July 6, 200719 yr Is there an online data base somewhere that gives you information on what former players are doing now? Nah just google, and maybe Wikpedia will have something.
July 6, 200719 yr I was like 6 when he played here, so I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
July 7, 200719 yr You know what mind boggling in to me... WHY THE HELL is everyone in LOVE with De Aza?? The guy has done nothing!!!!!!!!!! I mean yea he's hurt and yea he showed some potential but the GUY has proved nothing... WHAT KIND OF AN IDEA is removing Olivo so De Aza can get some PT time... What a joke this is! For all we know De Aza is another Abercrombie We'll never know if we don't let him play....and I don't get why he was good enough to start before he was injured, but not good enough when he comes back. Totally agree with that statement i bolded... but who said he was good enough to start before????? Fredi Gonzalez?
July 7, 200719 yr alfredo > de aza Alfredo is having a great season no doubt, but he shouldn't come back in the minors. Have him come up, get some playing time and see if he can keep hitting at that .300 clip he was sporting in April. If not, no big deal, he goes back down.

Like KMart, I fully expect him to spend alot of time in Carolina/Albuquerque when he is finally healthy
July 8, 200719 yr Well you know with the Marlins managment they will probably put De Aza back as the starting CF, and I also like him too. What other option do we have besides him? , and I think that Amezaga has landed a good impression on them, he certainly has on me, and the team is afraid to sit Hermieda. The Willingham has C, was just because I like him omg, mancrush alert!!!!!!!! dude, hammer CAN'T catch. trust me when i say that if there was a glimmer of possibility that hammer could replace miguel "butterfingers" olivo, they would have replaced him a LONG time ago. seriously, posts like this make me realize that red sox fans have forgotten more baseball than most marlins fans will ever know.
