July 14, 200719 yr Umm...terrible showing by the entire pitching staff. The defensive positioning defied common sense sometimes. I have to tip my hat to Amezaga, after terribly misplaying the ball that luckily went for a groundrule double, he showed off some nice run and catch ability, even if he did come up lame on a should have gotten him throw home. And, despite what it apparently sounded like on TV, Dontrelle did not get booed off the field. Some actually applauded him.
July 14, 200719 yr other home lost that only thing i going say at what point do you start to type in english?
July 14, 200719 yr anyway. dontrelle pisses me off. the sooner he is out of here the happier i am. obermuller should be in some independent league. amezaga is a damn good player which i never thought I would say. oh ya, andy fox shouldnt have a job.
July 14, 200719 yr I was hoping the things that plagued us in the first half would dwindle in the second half. And I was hoping these guys would come out in game one and try to do that. But what did we get? A starter who walked more than he K'd and didn't get out of the fourth inning and bad defense, two hallmarks of our first half. At least we only struck out five times. I just don't know what to think about Dontrelle anymore, in terms of his on-field performance.
July 14, 200719 yr Author I'm just curious, other than Olivo, who was notably bad defensively? Wood's misplay was terrible, but that was sh*tty positioning as much as anything else. Dontrelle threw one into right, but he was due for one of those. What am I missing?

They were booing like hell where I was sitting and I assumed most were applauding him being taken of the field. I just stayed quiet and angry at the crowd acting like this was Philly
July 14, 200719 yr WHAT DOES ALFREDO AMEZAGA HAVE TO DO TO HIT HIGHER THAN EIGHTH? WILL HE TOMORROW? He lead off for like 5 weeks.
July 14, 200719 yr not while the lineup was fully intact as it is now Because this is probably the most effective lineup we can have while we demand that Uggla hit's 2nd. Olivo's going to be even worse with the pitcher behind him.
July 14, 200719 yr I'd like to see this: Alfredo Hermida Hanley Cabrera Uggla Willingham Hammer Olivo That sounds like a pretty strong lineup, and I"m one of the few people that prefers Hanley hitting 3rd. We just need to tell him to do the same thing he's doing at leadoff, and not try too hard. Take your pitches, wait for the hanging slider or curveball. Steal some bags.

Hammer batting twice in succession. I like that. According to physics and, MLB rules and stuff, it would be near impossible, but damn it I like it.

I say f*** it, make it Willingham, then Hammer, then Josh and get Olivo out of the line up. Physics can go to hell.

That would be a pretty awesome lineup, though, huh? :mischief (Replace "Hammer" with Jacobs.)
