August 4, 200719 yr 1. Dontrelle 2. Mitre 3. Vanden Hurk 4. Olsen 5. Obermueller for 2 starts until Nolasco is ready?
August 4, 200719 yr Author 1. Dontrelle 2. Mitre 3. Vanden Hurk 4. Olsen 5. Obermueller for 2 starts until Nolasco is ready? Not sure if Nolasco is going to be starting any time soon anyway here's some numbers on Mauro (combined between Jupiter-Carolina-Albuquerque)... I'll have a much closer look on him on Future Fish later tonight once I get some emails back from a few scouts who have seen him firsthand: 44g 70.1ip 1.66era 45h 16r(13er) 4hr(1 in PCL) 25bb 68k .182baa
August 4, 200719 yr Seems like a hell of an arm.....but at the wrong position. This is the equivalent of calling up a Kris Harvey after cutting Dan Uggla. Why not call up a starter if you're going to do this? Or are we just going to start throwing games?
August 4, 200719 yr Why not call up a starter if you're going to do this? Or are we just going to start throwing games? We don't need a 5th starter for a bit with the off day so no reason to waste the roster spot until then.

August 4, 200719 yr he got the call... pretty sure he replaces Kim but not sure who becomes a starter Where'd you get this from? :mischief Is that a "I made it all up just to f*** with you and your wikipedia editing" or a "I wire tapped the Isotopes' locker room"?
August 4, 200719 yr The Marlins website speculated Barone would get called up, is Zarate just a bullpen arm until they need another starter? Also they've been fairly emphatic that Nolasco would be pitching in relief, so I can't see him making a start any time soon.

It's a "don't worry about where I got the info from". If you want to believe it great, if not... awesome.

Ramp's sources are reliable 99% of the time.

August 4, 200719 yr Author just some more info for you guys... Seemingly out of nowhere, right handed relief pitcher Mauro Zarate has had one of the best season?s in minor league baseball this year for bullpen pitchers. Coming off a nice year in Greensboro where he had a 3.19era and .244baa in 79 innings, Zarate started off 2007 in the Florida State League with the Jupiter Hammerheads. He took him just 26 innings to turn heads yet again as he went 2-2 with a 2.42era, .213baa and 20 strikeouts. His next stop was Double A Carolina and he did not disappoint. In 25.2 innings for the Mudcats, Mauro had a 1.40era, .152baa with 32 strikeouts to just 9 walks. He?s made 13 appearance with Albuquerque so far this year and has a 0.96era in 18.2 innings. Opposing hitters are just batting .182 off of him and he has allowed just 1 homerun in the homer happy Pacific Coast League. He?s a combined 3-3 with a 1.66era in 70.1 innings and has a stellar .182baa. So Mauro gets the call now as the Marlins world has been flipped on it?s collective head within the past few days. Josh Johnson underwent TJ Surgery. Then Reynel Pinto goes on the DL. Then BK Kim goes to Arizona for absolutely nothing. With the Marlins not needing a starter for a few days because of the off day on Monday, Mauro will get a chance to stick before the Marlins have to bring up either Wes Obermueller, Daniel Barone or perhaps even Gaby Hernandez.
