Sorry mate, I was having the absolute time of my life in Spain this summer when he was hurt and didn't realize he had the surgery that late in the season. But keep on keepin on the good fight, brother. Laughy emoticons FTW

Willis

Mitre

Olsen

Anibal/Nolasco

Vandy/Gaby/Volstad

That's my guess.

Slightly above zero chance that Anibal's ready for opening day.

I know, but wishful thinking makes me put him on there. I see a 30% chance.

Willis, Mitre, Olsen, G. Hernandez, Nolasco/Vanden Hurk

No Dontrelle?

I'm assuming he's one of the people who assumes that D-Train will be traded sometimes after the ASG.

Didn't the organization plan on keeping Nolasco in the bullpen full time?

I think that was just the plan for the remainder of this season, which is a moot point now anyway.

FWIW, Girardi has said many times that he and others (Kranitz perhaps?) thought Nolasco's future was as a closer because of his plus breaking ball.

I'm to lazy to look up the splits at the moment but if i remember correctly he had better stats out of the bullpen in his rookie season. Yet the sample size is incredibly small

No Dontrelle.

And I would say that even if we had a normal payroll, but the money obviously comes into play here. Dontrelle isn't part of the future. He is flat out an expendable trading piece. Hopefully he has a Joe Blanton revitalization in 2008 and we can turn that into a young C or CF, or both. I think trading Gregg in July next year is a good idea too. Probably Mitre too. Let those guys eat innings and saves, and trade them when contenders are desperate for pitching and our team is getting healthy. None of them figure into longterm plans, it helps salary, and really won't effect the team. I only say that last one because of the viable pitching alternatives we have.

We need to give Olsen, Gaby, Volstad, Anibal, Nolasco, and Vanden Hurk as many starts as possible in 2008 to sort out the "mess" for 2009 when Johnson, and god willingly, Sinkbeil, Thompson, and Tucker join the party. Throw in the young relievers (Tank, Owens, Lindstrom, Pinto, Kensing, C. Mart, H. Garcia, Zarate, hopefully J. Garcia, etc) and it's going to be really fun to watch which 12 end up on the team.

Willis and...

Scotty O will probably have to fight for a rotation spot. Mitre will have to fight for a rotation spot. Maybe Barone has a shot. Nolasco. Vanden Hurk. Gaby.

I am going:

Willis

Nolasco

Scotty O

Vanden Hurk

Barone

to start the season.

Yeah, he doesn't go deep into thew inning much and when I do let him pitch late in the inning, his pitching performance will suffer due to his low stamina that he brings.
