September 25, 200719 yr Question The official site is treating it like it is, but regular rest would have him pitching the season finale at Shea.
September 25, 200719 yr probably depends on if the Mets clinch the division or not eh. if the mets and phillies are tied for the divison on the final sunday (with that being the only spot remaining), making the marlins the potential spoilers...do we put willis on the mound, or mitre, our best pitcher this year?
September 25, 200719 yr i'd rather see Kim pitch the last game...his last start could well be his last start in teal as well
September 25, 200719 yr off topic but whats the chances of willis taking a incentive based contract he's not a free agent
September 25, 200719 yr Lets pitch him as much as possible and hope he only gets rocked in one game and maybe his ERA will be lower and we can trade him for a garbage can.

September 25, 200719 yr He's not going anywhere. I am getting the impression that Beinfest no longer makes bold moves. Hard to make bold moves when you got a 30 million payroll to play with.
September 25, 200719 yr He's not going anywhere. I am getting the impression that Beinfest no longer makes bold moves. Hard to make bold moves when you got a 30 million payroll to play with. This is terrible logic. 1. Whose to say he would even use the money for good? He doesn't now. He would have more of that $30-35 million to spend if he ran a decent payroll and bought out our young star's arbitration. He'll be spending at least $8-10 million dollars more than he should be, in 2008, just by electing to go to arbitration with Cabrera and Dontrelle versus giving them buyout contracts post 2004. People can be apologetic towards Beinfest for having a severely low budget, but he doesn't even use what he gets efficiently. This is going to happen all over again with Hanley and Hermida come 2011 unless the front office's philosophy change. It's very pathetic. 2. You can make bold moves without spending money. If we traded Dontrelle in 2006 to say the DBacks for Chris Young/Montero, or last year for Jeff Clement/Balentien, or Scott Olsen for, take your pick, Alex Rios, Rocco Baldelli, or BJ Upton, we'd be in A LOT better shape (or just drafted Ellisbury instead of 5 first round pitchers, 1 of whom is injured, 2 of whom profile as bullpen arms). And this is not because Dontrelle and Olsen sucked in 2007, this is because the Marlins have 18-22 legitimate MLB arms between A+ and the MLB club that will be available between 2008-2012. This has been easy to see since the post 2005 trades. Beinfest could have easily, easily!, constructed better teams by using payroll more efficiently to have money to sign say, Kenny Lofton, to one year deals, and trading some of the pitching depth for younger options that would create even more depth. These years have been wasted opportunities when the NL is outrageously down, and the finger points first to Beinfest, not Loria and the payroll.

Enough already. I think it's fair to say that people have a right to be frustrated after this season. The one thing I can say about the Fish is they def don't lie to their fans like other teams in this town. The Marlins knew they were going to suck and didn't hide it. Get over it already bro.
September 25, 200719 yr Question The official site is treating it like it is, but regular rest would have him pitching the season finale at Shea. Read it a little more carefully. They are treating it as maybe his last start at home in teal. He is scheduled to start Sunday, and that may very well change like a couple here have said. But my guess is that whatever happens, he starts Sunday.
September 25, 200719 yr i'd rather see Kim pitch the last game...his last start could well be his last start in teal as well He's up Friday. Seddon is scheduled to start Saturday and deservedly so the way he held them his last outing. He was pretty effective vs them Sunday. Polo's most likely right about Mitre. I haven't actually seen anything on it but he isn't scheduled to start. Of course that dosen't mean that if we have a shot of knocking the Mets out of it he won't come into the game in relief.
