October 22, 200322 yr Author I'm not giving up but we NEEDED to win tonight. It's gonna take a damn miracle now.
October 22, 200322 yr Author I'm used to being called a bandwagoner so I really don't pay attention to that crap. I said before I know we can come back and it's not over but it'll be tough.
October 22, 200322 yr I'm not giving up but we NEEDED to win tonight. It's gonna take a damn miracle now. on behalf of everyone shut up you idiot
October 22, 200322 yr Hmmm... down 2-1 and facing CLemens/Wells OR Down 3-1 facing Prior/Wood on the road Can you say no-brainer? Give me a struggling Rocket and that fat old bastard Wells every time.
October 22, 200322 yr Author Me?! YOU'RE A BANDWAGONER WHO SAID YOU'VE ONLY BEEN WATCHING FOR ABOUT A MONTH! You haven't even seen the team play the whole year. Ugh... I can't believe a bandwagoner just tried to own me... Unreal...
October 22, 200322 yr You're right...Anyone who thinks there no chance it just a bandwagon fan but is hard not get worried considering the way Fish bats have cooled off. it's one thing to get worried. It's another thing to think you're done
October 22, 200322 yr you said Loop sucked and then said to me "did you watch him for the year" well did YOU? he was awesome for most of the year and did you just call me a bandwagoner?

I can't believe a bandwagoner just tried to own me... Unreal... Sorry Uber, but gotta side with Minus. How much cred do you think you'd get after that whole "Gonzalez has .300 hitter potential" comment?
October 22, 200322 yr Author Yes I did. You said you've been watching them for a couple months... When they were winning... B-Dub. And Loop wasn't awesome. He struggled a lot and they only time anyone could rely on him is with a 20 run lead.
October 22, 200322 yr I'm not sure that I would like Looper back.He too inconsistent much like Alfonseca..50/50

Looper was fantastic up until mid August but hey, i am a bandwagoner
October 22, 200322 yr Either Cabs or Conine is at first next year. My guess is it's Cabs but irrelevant at this writing. Between them they will occupy one infield and one outfield position. Lee goes first, Looper and Castillo follow. If they pick up shortstop in the transactions so be it. Benifest has a habit (and so far a good one) of being the first guy out of the block when it comes to trading. Without discussing starting pitching, I believe Uggie, Pudge, Pierre, Conine and Lowell will be here next year. Everyone else if expendable.
October 22, 200322 yr The season is far from over. But I'll concede that either Lee or Castillo will not be coming back due to payroll considerations. Castillo can't run anymore. And with Pierre on top of the order, we don't even need a 2-hole. Pierre gets himself into scoring position. We really should make our lineup Pierre, Pudge, Conine, Miggy, Lowell, Castillo, Lee/Encarnacion, Gonzalez for the rest of the WS. But with Castillo linking up with Pudge's agent, it's smart to sign both of Boras' men. Conine is signed through next year and first base will give his knees a rest. Lee is the best firstbaseman of the league, defensively, and I'd like to keep him but it's not worth the projected $9 million price tag. I'm not worried too much about Gonzalez. Many teams, even contending teams, have offensive liabilities manning the middle infield. That Alex is ours doesn't bother me. What does is that he often makes the wrong decision. Whether it's to cheat towards what side, or to throw to what base, or twhat pitches to swing at, or HOW TO LAY DOWN A FREAKING BUNT! I hope he learns from his coaches in winter ball and spring training. If we wish to contend, we'll need a better relief corps. Looper and Urbina have shown flashes of brillliance, despite one of the two's recent struggles. A decent lefthander coupled with Fox will keep us in the games if either Urbina or Looper is let go. Our outfield could need a significant shot in the arm. Hollandsworth? Please! Not even as a back-up! Hopefuly Abraham Nunez can give us some good atbats next year.
October 22, 200322 yr 1) Lee: peace out, homes. not only are you not worth what they'll give you in arb, but you talk way too much smack about this ballclub, the city, and the fans. 2) Sea Bass: if you ever hit .300 for whichever sucker team you end up playing SS for, i'll take a s*** in a lake and go for a little swim 3) Tejera: maybe if you can grow another four arms--Shiva style--you might have a chance at becoming a "lefty specialist", or a "pitcher" for that matter. oh yeah, happy birthday! 4) Almanza: another lefty phenom down the tubes. don't make me hide those empanadas 5) Bloop: your meltdown pisses me off, but there's no way we can afford Uggy, so I'll just have to live with ya... just let me have your wife. 6) eh.. i don't have the courage to part with anyone else at the moment. i'm waitin til the offseason before i get bold.
October 22, 200322 yr Yes I did. You said you've been watching them for a couple months... When they were winning... B-Dub. And Loop wasn't awesome. He struggled a lot and they only time anyone could rely on him is with a 20 run lead. hahahha i am a bandwagoner!!!! Loop blew as many saves as Uggy... Looper was fantastic up until mid August but hey, i am a bandwagoner Ramp has been on this board for over a year, but up until August, he didn't watch the Marlins. :thumbup Looper better be back next year. I'd prefer him in set-up, but if he has to close, he can do it, especially now that he has the experience of doing it for all of a season (minus a week). I want Pudge, Lowell, and Urbina back. Those are the only three potential free agents I care about. I don't want Sea Bass back. Everyone else I'm honestly indifferent on, I can make arguments for them to stay or for them to go.
October 22, 200322 yr In order: 1) Juan Encarnacion: He's easily one of the worst offensive players at an easily filled position. He makes me miss Junior Felix. 2) Alex Gonzalez: As bad or worse than Encarnacion, only second on the list because SS is harder to fill than RF. 3) Derek Lee: Arbitration is going to give this guy more money than we can resign Pudge for. Gold Glove defense is great, but the streaky crap is killing me; one week he is Babe Ruth, the next, my aunt Ruth. 1B is even easier to fill, especially since Conine is already a solid defensive 1B. 4) The left-handed bullpen bums: We have to be able to improve upon Almanza and Tejera, though Tejera may be worth keeping in the organization in case 5 starting pitchers get hit by a train or something, I doubt he has trade value. 5) Brad Penny: Not that I think he is bad or anything, but he has trade value and is the organizations current #6 starter. And the Marlins have 3 starters as insurance in case of injury. My dream moves: Pudge resigned. Luis resigned, that hip will be good to go next year. Lowell with a multi-year deal. Urbina resigned. Vlad Guerrero obtained. Penny/Castro/Gonzalez moved for a SS that is worth a crap at the plate.
October 22, 200322 yr I Say... Luis Castillo because lately he has struck out A LOT, doesn't hustle, can't run, and just doesn't come up big anymore. I loved Louie but... we have the ultimate lead-off hitter and we can find better number 2 hitters. Mark Redman because he is a ONE HALF WONDER. He walked so many in the second half and couldn't get past the damn 7th inning. I know he likes to work behind in the count but that's not how you win games. He doesn't challenge batters either. You know he's going to throw away EVERY single time! Derrek Lee... I can't stand him anymore. He has GREAT talent but he can't hit in this stadium and I don't know why Bill Robinson doensn't want him to adjust. It's stupid. He just makes long outs and strikes out a lot. His defense isn't as great as people think either. He's made great stretches but as a first baseban, YOU'RE EXPECTED TO DO THAT! Armando Almanza... I really don't have to say anything do I? Braden Looper is just plain horrible. I'm suprised he was even so good at the start of the season. I say we resign Uggy and keep Fox as the set-up man. As a Cub fan. I applaud your inclusion of Looper - we'd kill to get him. He's no Rivera, but I enjoy watching him pitch. He's got some movement on his fastball. Lee is good, but overpaid. Castillo showed tonight that he's overrated, and I'd be pissed if the Cubs sign him in the off-season. Redman's not great, but he's a decent #4 lefty starter. And I'm surprised anyone wants UUU around next year. Ask Boston fans what they think of him.
October 22, 200322 yr Did somebody declare this series over? We win tomorrow and thursday, see what happens in game 6 and send Beckett to the mound in game 7 if needed. Marlins in 6 or 7. I see no reason to back off of that, especially when I didn't back off of Marlins in 7 when the Cubs were sending Prior and Wood (better than anything the Yankees can send to start) for 6 and 7 last week.
