Who do you hope is NOT playing for us next year?

I know that Something Wiener is an anchor for SportsCenter.

And I know I sound like a total jackass right now.

Why is calling GOnzalez a potential .300 hitter such a sin? Were you around when he was by far this teams best hitter in the first half? Hitting .340 and 12 HR?

He OBVIOUSLY can hit, but he has bad habits with his stance and mechanics. He's lunging at everything he swings at right now. When he was going well he was driving everything to left hard and often.

He's gone from being one of the best hitters this year to one of the worst. If he hit like he did this year consistently, I'd even be fine with his stats this year. .258 18 hr 77 rbi isn't bad at all from your #8 man, the problem is he's been a .150 hitter in the second half and a .100 hitter in the playoffs. He's been at both extremes this year, he's not a .340 hitter but i also dont think he's as bad as a .150 hitter.

If he's willing to come back at a reduced rate and prove he can hit for a full year, I'd like to see him back. I dont think he'll be a .300 hitter, but I think .280-20 hr-80 rbi is easily in his grasp, and with his defense, that's more than enough.

It's a sin becaude he is not, never was nor never will be a .300 hitter. He's had two stretches of .300+ hitting. Once for the 1st half of the season his AS year, then again for about 5 weeks this year. I hardly find these two small stretches as enough evidence to think he's anything more than what we've seen the other 3+ years... a .200 hitter with slight power who K's alot.

As for fixing his mechanics... This isn't a slump he's in. You think that the coaches haven't been working with him for three years now? What you see from Sea Bass right now is the finished product as a result of three years worth of coaching, not a player who is battling a slump and needs to work on it a bit.

Alex Gonzalez has the PHYSICAL ability to hit for a high average and decent power. He doesn't have it mentally. His problem in the second half 'till now was that he made himself believe he was a power hitter. He started trying to pull the ball, instead of putting it in the gaps for doubles and base hits (which is how he was successful in the first half). That double last night was a perfect example of first-half A-Gon. He stayed back and drove it, compared to second half A-Gon, who would have gotten anxious and tried to kill it, and ending up poping up.

Actually it was 3 months this year, but w/e.

Yeah, I was being a smart-a**. At least Juan can play RF.

I'm going to ask you again:

Isn't Eric Wiener an anchor for "SportsCenter"? That would be Matt Wiener. No relation.

I wish I made the money of a SC anchor!

Not only that, but he's not thinking HR anymore, he's thinking double. That's what he was thinking last night.

Or, the way Mike Lowell put it earlier this year when talking about why he had started hitting so many home runs, "It was a double that happened to go over the fence."

These two posts are proving me more and more correct. lol.

hey come on... as said before redmond & looper? w/o looper, wed have lost last night... id consider him well-worth it. as of right now, i dont see too much bad that i want to get rid of. GO MARLINS!

I know must of you hate Looper but I have always being a big supporter of his. I would like to see him stay. I also would like to see Luis stay but he's going to be demanding to much. Lee is gone, Almanza has to go,Tejera will stay, and Urbina unless he take a pay cut will be gone.

The only reason I would want Redmond back is because I'd like to see him end his career in Florida.

You mean so he can go in the H.O.F with a Marlins cap on, right? ;)

guys, we ARE in the WS... come on, les stop complaining about some of the best players out there! its the whole team, not just person-by-person!!!!! AMEN

Urbina would be valuable if we can sign him, but the money probably won't be there. In any event, I'm more worried about Saturday than anything else.

if castillo can hit 320. 25 sb 6 hr 45 rbi and play gold glove defense with a messed up hip i wanna see him when hes better ...

keep castillo

keep lee cuz he will only get better and best fielding 1b is NL...we cant do better than this so stop hating on lee.

bye to looper

bye to redman

bye tejera

bye almanza...

thats about it and im right.

The Marlins have good players at every position but some are more expensive than others, and others are more desired by other teams;

Pierre- Signed

Castillo- Gone. Looking for big bucks, multi-year contract. Would like to keep but in high demand and therefore too expensive. Baseball teams know he is one of the best 2nd basemen around. Will be seriously missed. Marlins will have to trade for a cheaper 2nd baseman.

Lee- Gone. See above. Conine will replace him.

Gonzalez- Will be signed. Demand not as strong. Good skills. A bit of a head case.

Lowell- Will be signed. Motivated to stay and team to sign him.

Rodriguez. Might be signed if he lowers his demands. Highest MLB demand of all Marlins player. Wants to stay. Team wants him. But may not be able to afford.

Cabrera. Signed.

Encarnacion- Might be gone. Moderate MLB demand. Not sure how interested the Marlins are in keeping him. Probably not worth the bucks he will demand.

Conine- Signed.

Pitching situation more difficult to predict. Probably will trade/not sign one starter (hopefully not Burnett). Maybe Penny or Pavano. Probably wont resign Urbina (too expensive). Will keep Looper, Tejeda, Bump and Fox.

What big bucks Encarnancion will demand?

After reading this crap I want to vomit. WTF?! Stop this trash talk about our players. WE ARE IN THE WS for God's sake.

This team plays as A TEAM and with a lot of heart!!!!!!! I don't want a team loaded w/Super Stars that can't get past a playoff first round or can't even make it!

I can't belive all of this Castillo/Lee/Looper bashing. What else do you want on a fricking 50Million payroll team!!!!!!!!

At this point, if you give me the choice I wouldn't change a thing about this team in 04. I don't even care if AGON hits .200 from now on.

TO the NON BELIEVERS :killthemall

Looper and Tejera can go bye-bye...

Looper had a chance to redeem himself after that Game 3 horrible outing he had and he almost lost Game 5...Game 4 he got lucky, they chased a few bad pitches top bail him out...Ever since beginning of August, he has for the most part sucked as a reliever...If his confidence is fragile, get rid of him, he has had some lucky outings this year, but his luck ran out..Yeah,he got saves this year, but how many times did the tying or winning run reach the plate, how many times did he allow baserunners before getting those saves? Tejera has no control and will groove an 0-2 pitch (see 11th inning loss to Giants)

and last of all, I cannot stand that "Help-I'm-Lost" sheepish grin Looper has when he comes in and starts to lose it....His mindset is totally wrong for a relief role

The only reason I would want Redmond back is because I'd like to see him end his career in Florida.

You mean so he can go in the H.O.F with a Marlins cap on, right? ;) Because he would be the first player in Marlin history to start, stay, and end his career in Florida. Something you don't see everyday in this era of baseball.

castillo has been bad lately...

ever thought of making him hit righy all the time?

he has alot more power from that side-and has better numbers.

y not make him hit right handed only?

Hey, people, don't know if you noticed, but THE WORLD SERIES IS STILL GOING ON!

Can you argue about who to trade off once the thing is done? At least? Let this thing last while it does because at best we will have to wait another year to experience it again.
