October 22, 200322 yr It's the Yankee's. The Giants and Cubs didn't have any dominate guy out the bullpen. Miss America makes it a 7 inning game. this is why I dont post over at the ESPN.com boards much anymore...we're down 2-1, and some people are giving up. Don't hurt yourself jumpin off the bandwagon.
October 22, 200322 yr I cant believe you people give so much BS towards players that have been struggling. Castillo has been pretty valuable to us all year round. Most consistent hitter batting above 310 all season Long. Still has B+ speed with hip and everything. I would take him over Soriano or a Polanco any day. Still has amazing D Sea Bass has been Disappointing, but we havent lost many games due to his hitting. In baseball shortstops were never meant to be hitters, until the Jeters, Garciaparras, and ARods came along (i have nothing against them though). Cant say enough about Sea Bass's D Looper is an A Closer, and if he explodes one of these years, he can become an A+ Closer and stand toe to toe with the Smoltz, Gagnes, Wagners, and Riveras. DLEE has pure power, but he cant take pressure situations. He did help us out in September, and His D is Gold Glove caliber. I just wish he can fight his inner demons. Yes we can have "better" but in baseball nothing is set. Look at freaking Pat Burrel. What if ARod goes into the slump of the century and becomes a Sea Bass?? Im really happy with my team, they have showed their talent throughout their season, and they can win this thing. They just need to believe in what they have inside and stay calm and cool
October 22, 200322 yr i wouldnt mind keeping A-Gon...but not necessarily starting....I'd like to see competition in the spring at SS
October 22, 200322 yr pretty heavy criticism for Castillo who happened to have the highest OBP on the team & has routinely hit over .300 for the marlins. (i still don't want to give him $7 million though & his hip worries me)
October 22, 200322 yr 1) Juan Encarnacion: He's easily one of the worst offensive players at an easily filled position. He makes me miss Junior Felix. Please tell me you're kidding about the Junior Felix part. At least Enc didn't get demoted this year.
October 22, 200322 yr Why is calling GOnzalez a potential .300 hitter such a sin? Were you around when he was by far this teams best hitter in the first half? Hitting .340 and 12 HR? He OBVIOUSLY can hit, but he has bad habits with his stance and mechanics. He's lunging at everything he swings at right now. When he was going well he was driving everything to left hard and often. He's gone from being one of the best hitters this year to one of the worst. If he hit like he did this year consistently, I'd even be fine with his stats this year. .258 18 hr 77 rbi isn't bad at all from your #8 man, the problem is he's been a .150 hitter in the second half and a .100 hitter in the playoffs. He's been at both extremes this year, he's not a .340 hitter but i also dont think he's as bad as a .150 hitter. If he's willing to come back at a reduced rate and prove he can hit for a full year, I'd like to see him back. I dont think he'll be a .300 hitter, but I think .280-20 hr-80 rbi is easily in his grasp, and with his defense, that's more than enough.
October 22, 200322 yr you damn fools. this thing is not over. we have to win tonight, thats for sure...... i am not comfortable with being forced to win with these starters...penny, ??? we get to game 7 and i am excited about our chances. thats why tonight is so important.....clemens is not unbeatable...pavz can pitch well..and he needs to do it again tonight.
October 22, 200322 yr thats why tonight is so important.....clemens is not unbeatable... "Clemens boasts a 3-0 mark with a 1.56 ERA in six career World Series starts, with all three of those wins coming with the Yankees. " - Credit Yahoo! Sports He has also pitched terrific this post season right up until game 7... I think this is going to be a fun game to watch.

October 22, 200322 yr Clemens may be one hell of a pitcher, but he's only human just like the rest of us. He's not God or anything.
October 22, 200322 yr Why is calling Gonzalez a potential .300 hitter such a sin? Were you around when he was by far this teams best hitter in the first half? Hitting .340 and 12 HR? Alex was down to .288 at the All Star Break in April he hit .352 May .310 June .268 July .220 August .149(are you kidding me?) September .238 as you can see, he turned it on late
October 22, 200322 yr well lets see.... unless gonzalez is a LATE bloomer with the bat... he will be lucky to hit .280 for a season. lets not get ahead of ourselves...its not like sea bass just took his spot on this team yesterday....
October 22, 200322 yr wow u ppl are dispicable sayin the marlins are done, they should ban you from these boards for sayin that s***, now u know why ppl make fun of marlin fans so much great fan support rit. secondly what the hell is all this castillo bashing, ok he hasnt performed well in the playoffs, but he was probably the most conisitent hitter the whole year, he lead the team in average and in on base percentage. hes also very good at defense and i think hes hip well heal by next season. also i think the lack of prepartion on his part is due to his slumpin in the post season especially against the yankee pitchers. acording to him he never knows who on the mound and things like that, i think the suggests he doesn watch much tape. dont know just a guess. as for next year i would like to see lowell, pudge, and castillo resigned on the hitters part and on the pitchers part pavano, redman, fox and ugie if its possible. i think we can part with lee, and juan. And in place for juan i think we can get a cheap veteran like a reggie sanders who can perform just about the same numbers as juan encarcion for cheaper. of course it would be nice to make a run at vlad :thumbup but that seems unlikely. as for sea bass i dont mind him being back as long as we dont overpay for him. Lineup For Next Year I think: Pierre Castillo Pudge Lowell Cabs Conine Cheap Veteran like a Reggie Sanders or Vlad :thumbup Gonzalez

October 22, 200322 yr Tejera would be a pretty good lefty specialist if lined up right on the pitching mound!
October 22, 200322 yr Castillo: Damaged goods Loop: Not mentally tough enough Gonzalez: Most overrated prospect in Marlins system...EVER D. Lee: Undisciplined and overpriced at half his current cost Tejera: Waste of skin Almanza: Goes without saying Castillo: Damaged goods ?????? Umm, Leading hitter on the team. Great defense. Looper was fine until August. I still think he's a decent enough pitcher. Just needs some work. Saved over 20 games Gonzalez great defense way to incosistent with the bat. D. Lee. Glove speaks for itself. I'll take a .270 who hits 30 HR's Tejera: Pack him a ham sandwich. Alamanza: Cut Tejeras sandwich in half and let them share it. Left off the orginal list is Encarnacion. Not reliable in key situations. How many times has he hit into double plays with the basesloaded??
October 22, 200322 yr one thing, people say "how does a fast runner like Enc GIDP so many times?" i think its that he hits the ball really hard just at someone and as for the not reliable in key situations bit.... check out the Phillies series last week of the season.... he showed you
October 22, 200322 yr I don't know how some of you wouldn't want Castillo back. He hits . 300 from both sides of the plate for god sake. Not only that, but he's not gonna get that $5-7 Mill he wanted before the season started, because that was when we all thought he was going to keep stealing 40 a year. Now, minus the stolen bases, he's only going to be around $4 Million. That's about what we're paying him now, and that's a bargain for the best #2 hitter in the NL, IMO.
October 22, 200322 yr Now, minus the stolen bases, he's only going to be around $4 Million. That's about what we're paying him now, and that's a bargain for the best #2 hitter in the NL, IMO. doubt it

I just have a feeling he's going to be back. I hope Admin Beinfest's Luck continues. That is all. I sure hope it's not luck, but I sure do hope it continues.

October 22, 200322 yr Yeah, I was being a smart-a**. At least Juan can play RF. I'm going to ask you again: Isn't Eric Wiener an anchor for "SportsCenter"?
