Options at 3rd Base??

I sometimes get the impression that Ramp doesnt really care for Cabs.

Not to speak for him, but he, like many here, probably just thinks we're going to trade him anyway, so we might as well do it when we might be able to receive a palatable return.

I got no issues with Cabs. He's a stud. He's like a younger Sergio Mitre.

I remember you once stating you either thought David Wright was better or would rather have David Wright, maybe both.

Either way, like a young Sergio Mitre? You mean he will immediately turn awful and most likely be out of baseball by the time hes 30 because he cant get it done at this level? Wow, thats a lofty projection.

maybe his weight will have some influence on when he stops getting it done

I think he is more like a young version of Miguel Olivo playing third base. I have no problem trading that away.

not that I remember saying I thought Wright was better but...

what if I did? David Wright is a pretty damn good ballplayer

Not as good as Cabs.

Does it really matter how good Cabs is? According to the front office all that matters is attitude and the food you eat.

Who cares if he is HOF bound. Pfft. Stats and production are overrated. Diet and the way you look at the owner in the eyes is much more important!

2007:

Cabrera, 24, 150 OPS+

Wright, 24, 150 OPS+

and Wright's defense is much better, and he actually brings something with his stolen base prowess (34/5)

God forbid that I may at one point have made a mention that I liked Wright better, which I don't even remember making

The fact is Wright had the better year and Wright has been improving while Cabrera has not.

Cabrera's uncharacteristically long slump from mid-August to 1st week of September took quite a hit on his average and OPS. Up until that point, he was having a career year. Yes, slumps are part of the game, but Cabs normally doesn't go into long ones.

And he still had career highs in homers and RBI.

what is the career ops+? wright also had protection on that team.

Can this topics please be closed. Cabrera WILL be our third baseman. If hes not, Ill be out of this board, for one month after he gets traded. Its a promise

Peace.

Except for the last few months of the year Cabrera would've increased his .OPS every single season.

Would you count that as improving??

His defense hasn't, granted. His waistline numbers have also gone up.

2008 3rd baseman: Aaron Boone.
