Hermida can hit anything, and has great patience. Uggla is a straight fastball hitter with little patience.

That's exactly why Hermida should be #2. Thanks for clarifying.

There's absolutely 0 reason why Uggla should be batting ahead of Hermida, Hanley, Hammer, or even Jake.... well, maybe Jake but I tend to think if he is healthy he's pretty good

I always hear you speak, but I never hear anything.

Can you for once EXPLAIN why?

What's your reasoning? I've explained mine... And I've also explained the alternative and how I see that perspective being reasonable. You've done neither.

So, what can you contibute to this thread besides "you're wrong, I'm right"?

I can't believe this is a serious request. Dan Uggla can kill an inning faster than anyone. He can also save an inning. Why don't you put his hit or miss style in the hole and let him have the occassion of saving innings. He will ruin innings as well, but at least he's not ruining them around Hanley, Hermida, and Maybin.

So the two MLB managers who have decided to bat him second the last two years are incorrect for doing so?

Like I said, would you rather have Hermida in the middle of the order or Uggla?

Of course Dan isn't you're typical 2-hitter. But he's also not the ideal power bat with patience/contact you want in the middle of the lineup.

Ok.

Dan Uggla isn't close to a good 2 hole hitter. He doesn't put the ball in play enough. He can't hit for average. And he strikes out about 150 times a year. He is a perfect 5-6 hole hitter for the NL.

Hermida is a perfect 2 hole hitter. He hits for average, he's got a tremendous eye (2 of em!), and he is a good hit and run candidate. Not only that but he's got just as much pop as your boy Uggla, and is a lefty shtick to boot.

And yes, the 2 manager who put Uggla in the 2 hole were very wrong.

Like I said, I see your perspective.

You saw my lineup from your eyes, and maybe that's the best way to go.

I'm just hesitant to mess with a good thing... Last year we set franchise records in many offensive categories with Uggla as the mainstay in the 2-hole and Hermida showed signs of being one of the best potential 3/4 hitters in the NL. The more I think about it, the more it could go either way. I just can't see Uggla having too much success without a premier bat behind him. BUT, maybe some NL pitchers would balk at not pitching to Uggla and having a solid Willingham behind him.

dont you mean without a premier bat behind him and ya wasnt one of those records most strikeouts

Yes, I meant behind him.

And it isn't unusual for a team to score a lot of runs/hit a lot of homers to K alot.

ya but you can score just as many runs without striking out a ton and hitting alot of homers. DS is not built for team that relies on homers to score

But our TEAM is. Unusual for the former small-ball Marlins, I know.

and jacobs and uggla being traded is impossible? keep hermida, hammer, hanley (hey its triple-H) and maybin as a core and build from there. you never know

And who do you suggest we trade them for?

I think Mav should put his money where his mouth is and bat cleaup.

I'm more of a gap to gap hitter though :confused

bat me second

unfortunately i have no idea who would be interested in them but you can never have to many pitching prospects :lol i was just saying if put on the block they could bring back a piece that would make more sense for the club

Debatable. If you took steps to strike out less, the modified approach or swing may cause you to hit worse.

hanley himself didnt think he was ready to start in 06.............if im not mistaken lets see him play before we count him out in 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

definitley, sure he'll be 21 when the season starts but a certain mr.cabrera was 20 when he came up :shifty

I don't know that I would say he CAN'T hit for average. He did hit .280s in '06, which I imagine you disregard because pitchers didn't know him yet. But still he could rebound some next year. And he walked more last season, which is good to see.

I agree he should be down in the order though, certainly.

ya but hanley was also told he would be starting in 2015 for the red sox while maybin timeline is 2009
