March 25, 200818 yr McPherson was optioned to Triple A http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=fla not a surprise, he hasn't played in over a year and he was injured much of preseason -- let him get his ABs down there, I bet he's back up soon
March 25, 200818 yr I think that has been the plan for some time. He has been playing minor league (spring training) games with that squad for a few weeks and just coming over to the Marlins to play a game or two to see what progress he was making. From what I understand he's not physically able to play more than a couple of games in a row so he's absolutely a work in progress. At least in Albuquerque he'll be playing as often as his body allows, my only complaint is that he won't see the range of pitches he needs to see before he comes back to MLB. Perhaps he'll be added to the Carolina roster before he comes South to Florida for some work there as well. The Isotopes, from everything I read is a terrific minor league franchise and well liked in the community, and I'm not bad-mouthing them in the least, but it is said the air is so thin in a number of PCL cities that beaking pitches are virtually non-existent, at least compared to say the International League. I would love to see the Marlins swap AAA franchises with perhaps one of the west coast or central teams that want a closer presence for their affiliate, so that the Fish could find a home in the IL. It probably would be a tremendous benefit to kids coming up through the organization. But good luck Dallas. We look forward to seeing you later this year.

Right on about Albuquerque - a tough place to pitch. Dodger minor leaguers ran up unbelieveable stats when it was their affiliate. The stadium is awesome but I am not so sure it is a great place to develop pitchers..... How long are we committed there?
March 25, 200818 yr le stats when it was their affiliate. The stadium is awesome but I am not so sure it is a great place to develop pitchers..... How long are we committed there? Forever. (j/k) Someone one probably knows but I believe it's a lengthy contract.
March 25, 200818 yr Well it looks like the roster is fairly well set with this move, barring injuries or unseen trades. Wood and Cantu will hold down 3B until McPherson can get healthy.

WOW usually they dont...most MLB teams dont go any longer than 10 years with a minor league affliate unless its extremely profitable and conveinent (see, pawtucket red sox)
March 25, 200818 yr I love Albuquerque, I love the Isotopes...please keep them a marlins affiliate!!!
March 25, 200818 yr Everything about Isotope Baseball is amazing. Once you go to a game, you are hooked. The field is absolutely beautiful, the food is great and the promotions are wonderful. They always seem to put a good team together as well. Add all that to about 10-13 thousand fans a game showing up and you have a marqee Minor League franchise. My family and I are heading out to a game opening weekend. Should be fun.

WOW I didn't read through the topic and thought someone was asking how long the Marlins were in contract at their new stadium. :blush I actually have no idea how long the Marlins are in contract with the Isotopes, my fault.

March 26, 200818 yr so what are the chances he hits 1.000 for like 50 AB's, join us back in the majors and finishes with a Ryan Braun like season?
