Marlins interested in Rockies' catcher

same here budy....hope it's just a rumor. i believe with another good bullpen arm and pudge or molina...we can win the division

History may prove me wrong but the context for the Torrealba comment I would think were inquiries a month ago that were fruitless. That's why the Marlins then talked to the Reds about Ross and SF regarding Molina

Torrealba would be more expensive than Molina and much much more than Ross.

Here are OPSs for "available" catchers:

Laird 811

Ross 794

Pudge 763

Molina 736

R. Hernandez 709

Torrealba 693

I say that Laird's available because Tex has two stud catchers coming up in Teagarden and Max Ramirez. Why not go for Laird, and offer something Tex always needs.... starting pitching. I would think that a package of Jacobs, Tucker and possibly a guy like Marceaux should do it.

Thoughts?

I like the way this man thinks. Give me Laird or Salty from the Rangers, we've been saying it all year. Offer them Scotty Olsen and I don't see how they could turn it down.

This comes from Ken Rosenthal Today:

Rosenthal talked to one club official who finds a 50% chance of Gerald Laird or Jarrod Saltalamacchia being traded before the deadline. The Rangers want young pitching.

:pray

Not sure I'm offering Olsen for Laird straight up. But seriously... Laird's going to be 29 in the offseason, and he had a seriously sucky year in 2007. If I'm Texas, I jump at an offer of Jacobs and Tucker for Laird.

No way we would give up Tucker...Tucker is not going to get traded he is a furture stud and will become very good...The Marlins are going to do the same thing they did with Volstud to Tucker... He can be a future ace

Yea well, Olsen had a more "sucky year" in 2007.

pretty big difference between Laird and Salty, no?

Seriously think it would take Olsen to get Laird?? I don't think I'd bother then. I'd rather make a bigger deal for Max/Teagarden/Salty.

Gotta remember that I think Olsen is a below average starting pitcher in this league...so...i'd love to get anything for him right now while his value might be high.

Yeah I'm not too big of a fan on Laird

He's a career sub-.700 OPS hitter even tough he's in Arlington.

His OPS this year is powered by a .338 BA against RHP. He's a career .242 hitter against them, .372 BABIP this year.

He's also entering his second arbitration year. after this season.

Oh I'm okay for moving him in the right deal, I'd just like to aim higher than Laird.

Laird also plays in Texas.

I wouldn't even trade Olsen for him. And you all know what I think about trading Tucker...no dice.

Molina>>Yorvit

Enough said. Plus i doubt to get Molina we would have to give any major prospects, as in yorvit the rockies are going to ask for something crazy, as in theyre doing with Fuentes

give the mstanton for molina. that should be all

I am not really high on Yorvit, I'd rather get LoDuca or Bako.
