August 16, 200818 yr wow, Kevin all I have to say is wow, we all knew Ward was a power hitter, u never leave something out over the plate, just didn't keep that pitch down, big mistake, everyone else did a great job, the bullpen, Hanley, Cantu, JJ, even Willingham, its sad that 1 pitch could ruin such a great played game Are you really that surprised? This is the same guy that gave up a game tying homer to Endy Chavez. :| this was like 2 months ago. He's been great ever since the colorado rockies series. Today was just a fluke, he'l bounce back
August 16, 200818 yr Yeah, because pointing out the flaws on the team and watching them play so badly and coming to the conclusion that the chances of them winning the division are very unlikely makes me not a fan. In order to be a fan, I have to ignore the obvious flaws of the team and pretend that magical fairies will come to make them better at baseball. No, in order to be a fan you have to stay positive, or at least try. I understand if you're frustrated, especially after a loss like tonight, but I cant remember one game thread in all the time I've been here that you haven't said "He sucks, get him out of there!" Now, this isn't even late in the game, you usually say this in the first couple inning once the pitcher gives up his first run. Pointing out flaws does not include "f*** you, you're the worst pitcher ever!" Real fans are classy and real fans stay with their favorite team on matter what. Since you dont have both of those qualities, I dont think you can call yourself a real fan. Its people like you who need to change their attitudes quick, and start growing up. Yeah, a guy who roots for the Marlins every year since 1993, is not a true fan. Yeah, its pretty obvious I haven't stuck with the ballclub. Even during the dark days after 1997. What do you know about me? Absolutely NOTHING. And no, I really don't care if I fit into your narrow view of what a fan really is.
August 16, 200818 yr I'm Kevin gregg of the florida marlins i don't chew i don't dip and i don't SAVE sorry....bit frustrated right now lol

My view isn't narrow, its what most people define as a fan. Why dont you start cheering on the Marlins instead of attacking them?

If he didn't give a crap he wouldn't be paying attention, he wouldn't be bothered by what happens and he sure as hell wouldn't be here. Fans have opinions and they are not clones. Why is that so difficult to understand?

August 16, 200818 yr Actually, I knew that, because I remember that year. I was just trying to guess your age. I may have guessed too high though. I am 24 next week, but I fail to see what this has to do with baseball. What, are you looking for a date? Clearly, a guy who hates the Marlins would spend so much time on an internet message board devoted to the Marlins. Your tactics of declaring people non fans who don't agree with your views are classic. But they're also old and have played themselves out. Why don't you try discussing the ballgame instead of discussing my qualifications as a fan? Whether you like what I have to say about the ballclub or not, at least I am DISCUSSING BASEBALL. This seems not to be one of your best abilities.

When I say a guy sucks, I am ALWAYS talking about RIGHT NOW. AT THIS MOMENT. Its not that I actually think the guy sucks over an entire season. For instance, if I say Hermida blows, I am talking about RIGHT NOW. He's been really bad. Do I think he's worthless? No, not really. Can he be better? Yes. But I am not going to post a lengthy argument in the middle of a game thread that just gets pushed to a previous page in five seconds.

Hmm...thats interesting, considering you say people like Olsen suck every single time they start. I guess what you meant was, "When I say a guy sucks, I'm talking about AT THE MOMENT THE PLAYER THROWS EACH PITCH."

August 16, 200818 yr I want to see an option for the umpire. Why? Is it the umpire's fault that our 1B, can't make plays that kids from the Little League World Series can? Is it the umpire's fault that Kevin Gregg had trouble throwing strikes tonight? Did the umpire make Kevin Gregg throw a cookie down the plate? No. The Marlins lost this game. No sugarcoating it... Failing to play defense...failing to get a runner in from 3rd with less than 1 out. They lost it. ...just like they've been finding ways to lose, lately. I'm an optimistic guy, but it's tough to be optimistic, after the baseball I've seen this week. Certain plays that Little Leaguers make, or know not to make...yet, this team doesn't realize it. I'm still shocked about the little stunt Uggla pulled the other night in the 9th inning. Good thing he doesn't play in Korea...the other day a Korean in the Olympics was benched for failing to bunt the ball. I can only imagine what happens after a boneheaded baserunning mistake, like the one Uggla pulled off Monday. When you play like sh*t...don't expect the calls. And for what it's worth...that umpire was bad both ways. He gave us an extra run when he allowed Hanley to walk to 1B, on what looked to be strike 3.
August 16, 200818 yr Yeah Rab, apparently no one saw my post in the DEMONS BE GONE thread. A guy who hates the Marlins could clearly post something like that. I post positive things about this team on this board. People just have selective memory. Instead of actually discussing baseball, they attack the poster. Its a classic strategy and I am not surprised. And yes, I do overreact. I admitted as much before. Its called a CHARACTER FLAW. Why do I overreact? Because I love this god damn baseball team, and you are crazy to suggest otherwise.
August 16, 200818 yr :lol Are people really blaming the umpire? Wow. Its out of frustartion, but its obviously Kevin gregg's fault The umpire didn't lose us the game, but he contributed with his f'ed up calls.
