August 16, 200817 yr Thoughts: 1) When will the Hermida bunting end? 2) Teams are now pitching around Hanley. 3) Hermida can't hit the outside pitch. He needs to either change his stance or move closer to the plate. 4) Does Hanley even care about stealing bases anymore? At least take leads.... 5) We need a 5th bat on the bench. With the way the rotation has stabilized, we have no need for an 8th reliever. If anything, I think 8 relievers may be keeping some of the guys rusty. You can't blame Gregg. It happens, he clearly was not sharp. Seeing that I would have brought in Rhodes to face Ward. Not bashing Fredi though. I know it's against the baseball rules to remove a closer before he's blown a lead. Also, this team still aint hitting. (Just 4 hits)

In order to be a fan, I have to ignore the obvious flaws of the team and pretend that magical fairies will come to make them better at baseball.

August 16, 200817 yr wow, Kevin all I have to say is wow, we all knew Ward was a power hitter, u never leave something out over the plate, just didn't keep that pitch down, big mistake, everyone else did a great job, the bullpen, Hanley, Cantu, JJ, even Willingham, its sad that 1 pitch could ruin such a great played game

No, in order to be a fan you have to stay positive, or at least try. I understand if you're frustrated, especially after a loss like tonight, but I cant remember one game thread in all the time I've been here that you haven't said "He sucks, get him out of there!" Now, this isn't even late in the game, you usually say this in the first couple inning once the pitcher gives up his first run. Pointing out flaws does not include "f*** you, you're the worst pitcher ever!" Real fans are classy and real fans stay with their favorite team on matter what. Since you dont have both of those qualities, I dont think you can call yourself a real fan. Its people like you who need to change their attitudes quick, and start growing up.
