August 23, 200818 yr ok...I have pinpointed the Marlins Mets series as the end all for playoff hopes...here's what we got so far... August 23, 200818 yr PRACTICE You talkn bout Practice? o wait wrong post yea this might or might not happen all we need is the Muts to lose 6 games and us win 5 so phillies take 1st and we tie for 2nd by 1 game
August 23, 200818 yr it appears we have the easiest schedule, so its possible. But like i said maybe this dback's series sparks teh team again to go on a run. IT would be amazing if they did it, but a run is what they needed for 2 months.
August 23, 200818 yr ur right were really not out of this, by the time we go and face the Mets next Friday it will let us know where we stand. Hopefully were no more then 4 games out.
August 24, 200818 yr after tonight the plan will need an adjustment , I would like to believe the Marlins are going to make playoffs but the truth is we are going to struggle to finish .500
August 24, 200818 yr i donot see phy or met both go lossing streak maybe one and wildcard is not going easy to win i think we lost our chance when we lost two series at home those hurt more you think let enjoy rest season hope we climb up if not we hope we play better in 2009 this team need help doing offseason
August 24, 200818 yr I hate to be the one to break it to you, but we are going to lose a LOT of key players in the offseason. To keep this current team together, it would cost the front office about $50MM. They're probably going to keep the payroll at $25MM. Which means Uggla, Willingham, Jacobs, Gregg and Cody Ross are all probably traded for prospects...

Ignoring the financial componet of your argument based on the 3 years more or less this current team has been kept together it is hard to see how an offense that strikes out more than any team in baseball , has the worst defense in baseball, and cant manufacture a run to save its life would ever make the playoffs . We have had a good , entertaining year for 130 games ,but this team needs to be altered to take the next step. As far as I am concerned we have signed the only player deserving of a multi year contract already , while there are some players who I think the team should keep everyone else from the position player point of view is replaceable

First of all you're not "breaking" any news there, we all know some of them will be gone, and so what? It's a .500 team, they need some changes anyway. Maybin is certainly coming up which means Ross or Willingham is out of the picture. Jacobs is a mess so I don't think anyone's losing any sleep over that. And Gregg isn't in the upper echelon of closers.

Which means Uggla, Willingham, Jacobs, Gregg and Cody Ross are all probably traded for prospects... again as i have said in the past, i think the court ruling will heavily influence the payroll of the team next year if we get a positive result and the ground is broken for the stadium before the end of 2008 as planned, then i reckon we will see some more players on more substantial contracts (whether it is current players or players from other teams im not sure) im by no means saying the payroll will be even close to the middle of the league, but certainly more than what we have had in the past 3 years this may just be me being hopeful tho......
August 24, 200818 yr Regardless of how much money this team will be allowed to spend, I have to think that Jacobs, Olsen, and Willingham are goners, and probably Gregg as well. Jacobs can't continue to play in this park Josh has a bad back Olsen is expendable Gregg is going to command closer cash, and he is a middle relief type guy
August 24, 200818 yr Gregg and Jacobs should be the first to go. Then Ross. Uggla and Willingham should be lower on the list but I doubt they keep both.
