September 20, 200817 yr That is, should we pull off a miracle and get in. Injury exemption, something, anything?
September 20, 200817 yr yes, i do believe injury is the only way, so that means anybody with a pipe u need to find Hermida's address
September 20, 200817 yr Gregg reinjure his leg? I actually think Fredi would tell Hermida or a lesser bench player on the team to fake an injury at that point to get Maybin on the team in all seriousness
September 20, 200817 yr Author Seriously does anyone know for sure? That would be tragic to see Maybin be a major part of this and not be able to stay with the team.
September 20, 200817 yr the title of this thread is hilarious. go braves. he has been on our 40 man roster since the beginning of the year.
September 20, 200817 yr According to Rule 40(a), a player must be on his club’s active big league roster or disabled list (or bereavement list, suspended list, or military list) on August 31 in order to be eligible for post-season play. Now, I can't find the rule, but I know that any player on the DL (It might be any man on the 60-day) can be replaced by any player from the 40-man. So if we want Maybin to play, I think Hermida's hustlebone is hurting a bit.

Backdoor rule, got K-Rod on the playoff roster for the Angels in 2002, it's there, pretty sure it's the DL in general and not just the 60
September 20, 200817 yr Carroll was on the DL before Sep. 1 so he is eligible so he can be DL'd and Maybin can be eligible if it comes to it.
September 20, 200817 yr Its not going to convince someone to fake an injury because who wants to miss the playoff?
September 20, 200817 yr Its not going to convince someone to fake an injury because who wants to miss the playoff? The FO and Fredi will find a way for him to play in the PO should we make it some one will be told to fake an injury.

I imagine something like this will have been many times to get an impact call-up into the playoff roster.
September 20, 200817 yr Im going to Kevin Gregg's house to beat the living crap out of him right now. Who cares to join?
September 20, 200817 yr Maybe he's not sold on starting Maybin yet? He's not the only one, Rotoworld seems CONVINCED that he won't be on the club next year.

September 21, 200817 yr meh, it should be Hammer that's sitting, not Hermida. You can easily make the arguement that they're a push offensively, but the gap in their defense is really really huge. Hammer is one of the worst LFers in the game, a posistion where you stick the players who can field to just highlight how bad he is, and Hermida has been slightly above average in RF. An OF of Cody/Maybin/Hermida would be better than Hammer/Maybin/Cody

An OF of Cody/Maybin/Hermida would be better than Hammer/Maybin/Cody did you see hammers catch last night and at least he walks unlike hermi. And yeah Fileding isnt something you really worry about in left.
September 21, 200817 yr one catch does not equate to the product as a whole. Although when I wrote that, I thought Hermida had been putting up a .700 OPS like Hammer was (I was only looking at "post all-star break" numbers where he's upper .600's). But he had a .540 OPS last month .339 OPS so far this month so I take that back.

September 21, 200817 yr I agree that it's the last important position defensively and the reason that teams put their worse defensive player there. But that doesn't change the fact that if two players are equal offensively, the better defensive player is going to be the better player. But that doesn't end up being the case here.
