February 15, 200917 yr I just read this and was about to make a thread on it... Is Bonifacio really a lock to make the team? :o
February 15, 200917 yr doesn't 20-25 lbs sound like a lot to gain? Hey I could do that! Apart from it would be due to burgers and pizza, not muscle.....
February 15, 200917 yr doesn't 20-25 lbs sound like a lot to gain? Enough to be questioned for steroid use soon enough.
February 15, 200917 yr doesn't 20-25 lbs sound like a lot to gain? Enough to be questioned for steroid use soon enough. I was just gonna say that. Also sometimes that much weight gain even if its muscle can be bad for a baseball player espcially if alot of its in his upper body. Hopefully he put alot of muscles on in his legs. Edit just read the article all the way through. Why did he put that much on in his upper body? i remeber Arod sayin in 06 he put to much weight on his his upper body and his bat felt slower. I cant believe bonerface seems to be a lock to make this team, where the hell is he gonna play? I guess some where in the OF cause our inf is full of guys.
February 15, 200917 yr 20-25 pounds of muscle?.Yeah right, just admit that you had to many burgers and fries on your vacation Hanley!!! We have got Miguel Cabrera V2 on our hands!!!
February 15, 200917 yr If I was a guy trying to make a big-league roster on a team capable of making the playoffs and thus winning it all, then why wouldn't i show up early and show the team that I'm ready to contribute (No-shows Friday: Hanley Ramirez, Jorge Cantu, Alfredo Amezaga, Wes Helms, Robert Andino, Dallas McPherson. But regulars aren't due to report until Monday. The first full-squad workout is Tuesday.)

His future isn't with the Florida Marlins.

February 15, 200917 yr The guy hasn't even had a chance yet...... His track record shows that he's not a split / platoon player...especially at a corner outfield spot.
February 15, 200917 yr Dan Uggla didnt have this kind of track record either At least Uggla showed he can hit with some power, in his last year in the minors. And players improving as much as Uggla did out of nowhere...a little rare. Edit: The Marlins also didn't have as many options back then (with Uggla) as they do now (with Bonifacio).
February 15, 200917 yr Is Bonifacio really a lock to make the team? :o If we don't sign a fourth outfielder, he will certainly be in the mix but he's definitely not a lock. If we do sign a fourth outfielder (which is growing less and less likely), Bonifacio will be spending the year in New Orleans. The very fact that he was mentioned as a candidate to leadoff makes me cringe. People need to get it out of their heads that this guy is the second coming of Luis Castillo.
February 15, 200917 yr Aiight I finally agree then, that trade with the nationals sucked. How much is Olsen and Hammer making this year anyway? If their combined salary doesn't add up to a Pudge or some surprise starter we haven't thought about then why did we trade 200 INNINGS for?
February 15, 200917 yr i was think this question at fanfest who was going to be leadoff i remember that Hanley Ramirez did leadoff some last season and he was move off leadoff spot because hitting want south so i see he could be move third spot
February 15, 200917 yr I love how a guy with a career OBP of .300 is rumored to be our leadoff guy. (I know, small sample, but still.)
February 15, 200917 yr I love how a guy with a career OBP of .300 is rumored to be our leadoff guy. (I know, small sample, but still.) Ask Hanley, he said it. Ramirez did work out with the guy everyday in Licey and watched him play all winter, although honestly he may be rooting for his fellow Dominican more than anything else. Bonifacio has a long way to go and an awful lot to prove to dethrone Maybin who seems everyone's heir apparent at the top of the lineup.
February 15, 200917 yr So what happens if HanRam proves to be a better leadoff hitter than a run producer where do we go then? Didnt Ross or Amezaga try to leadoff to little or no success? That leaves either Baker or Maybin to leadoff? Is that a good option or does that lead to a Raynor-type coming into play? And I just figured that DeAza is the lefty hitting OF that everyone says we need?
February 15, 200917 yr Hopefully putting on so much weight in one off season doesn't result in the same way it did for Jeff Francoeur last season.
February 15, 200917 yr I am not a fan of Hanley gaining 25 pounds. Also, it's Hanley claiming he gained 20-25 pounds. I find that dubious. I bet it's more like 15. Still a lot to gain in 4.5 months.
